[WIP] Sadrith Mora Expanded

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 12:58 pm

This sounds incredible! I wish there were more great city expansions. This sounds along the lines of Balmora Expansion, which I absolutely love.

The one thing I would really like to see with Telvanni towns are a bit more magical-looking mushrooms and scenery. The plain, brown mushrooms don't really excite my imagination. I want to see glowing blue, pink, purple and green mushrooms and maybe pools and Asian-looking gardens. There definitely needs to be more richness and splendor. I would like to see it decorated something like a harem where there are beautiful tapestries, filmy veils and wall coverings, beautiful, lush carpets, pillows, unique furniture, etc. I would love to see the alchemists have gorgeous and unique bottles and potions and available housing for people who wish to live there. I want to see all the inhabitants looking like mages, not walking around in crappy, common clothes. Seeing slaves running around, doing their Master's work, or bound servants would be great too.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it's unlikely that you will find such things in SME - it just doesn't fit my vision of Morrowind, and the Telvanni. And some of the other things wouldn't be worth the effort...

There definitely needs to be more vendors, and I find it strange that most of the vendors in Sadrith Mora work under a breezy awning. If this is a capitol city, you would think there would be more high class establishments.

Actually, the open-air market is one of the things I like in Sadrith Mora - it reminds me of the markets from my childhood (now the open stalls are replaced by small shops and booths). And the new shops are all in interiors, and definately aimed at higher class (ie richer) clientele.

Any screenshots of the new arena? And also any idea when this will be released?

I'll take some shots later - while I wanted to do it today, the plane crash in Russia changed my plans... I'm just not in the mood to do anything... The release date is still sometime before my 30th birthday...

This looks like a fantastic mod! I know I'd dl it in a heartbeat when it's ready. Nice work so far.

Thanks!

Is this mod going to alter NPCs in a fashion like LGNPC? If so for the new NPCs only or for all the vanilla NPCs as well?

Just remembered, that the things shown in the quote are technically in the arena area - is this enough in the screens department?
-The arena got the axe - blame Bhl, he convinced me that it doesn't look good and fit the area
-At the same time, he created some wonderful interiors, including a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot26-1.jpg, and an Archmagister's area (where, among other things, a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot24-1.jpg may be held)
-http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot27-1.jpg

No? Well, let's see what we have here:
- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot43-1.jpg (are there any animated dunmer closets, like the imperial one made by Phaedrus?)
- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot44-1.jpg
- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot46.jpg
- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot47.jpg
- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot42-1.jpg

Generally, the arena consists of several cells around the main pit (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot48.jpg):
  • The pit itself
  • Loges for the ranking Telvanni (the commoners can watch the matches from a "corridor" going around the pit - in http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/karpik777/Sadrith%20Mora/MGEScreenshot32-1.jpg the lower row of "forcefields" is that corridor, while the upper one protects the loges (which also have a private area in the back)
  • Fighter's Training
  • Fighter's Quarters
  • The Slave's Head Tavern

Is this mod going to alter NPCs in a fashion like LGNPC? If so for the new NPCs only or for all the vanilla NPCs as well?

Highly unlikely - while the new NPCs will get some less generic dialogue, it's nowhere near the scope of the LGNPC project (they really should do a Sadrith Mora one, shouldn't they ;) )

Wow. The whole new arena area looks completely amazing. I really like the private rooms and the commoners' corridor.

The credit goes to Bhl - I don't think I'd ever think of something so creative.

Hmm, I'm wondering if anyone is still waiting for this or should I allow it to gather dust :frog:

For the last months progress was nonexistant - somehow I decided to concentrate on getting my degree (it's the Polish equivalent of Bachelor - as set in the Bologna declaration). Yes, I know it's silly to put life before modding, but sometimes you have no choice...

Anyway some screens (sorry for the small size - I'm working on a laptop, and since they're taken in the CS, the result is even smaller than normal...)

http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx325/karpik/SME/sme.jpg

Question - are the http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx325/karpik/SME/balcony.jpg to stay, or do you prefer that area without them?

NO! this looks amazing; it is on my list of awaited WIPz. Due to that specific reason you MAY NOT quit it. :flamed: :nuke:

I say keep the planters, they look nice and fit well. Also I like the overview picture: That looks like a Mushroom Forest!

Keep up the good work! :goodjob:

It's a deal until you won't quit Lyithdonea - seeing Kieve's "From the Void" fall into... the void was enough for me for now ;)

Also - anyone knows any statue resources with a statue of a female mage? Preferably set up so I could apply a vanilla rock texture to it...

I agree with Melchior. Saves me the time from having to type something similar out. :D

I know there are statue packs floating around on PES, but I can't remember whether any have female mage statues in them.

Do I need to fax you a copy of my signature? I'll title the document: "The Karpik-Melchior Pact of Major WIPs" :lol:

I should know ;) it's Azura!

In regards to actual critique, the only thing I would say is: Is it possible to have a less stretched looking mesh/texture for the arena ceiling? As it is now it stands out a bit too much imo. Other than that I'll wait for something else to see if I have critique, it looks nice so far B)

Meh, I should have warned the mesh is temporary (unless I can't find anything better). While the lady I'm thinking of has a star, she's not Azura (There's a hint in this very post ;) )

I need to change the textures anyway, but it's likely to look stretched - it's what you get when scaling meshes 2x up ;)

Meridia then? The Blue Star?

You can scale the UV quite easily in blender. Or depending on it's simplicity, in Nifskope as well.

Hint, hint - think of a large questmod which was made by 3 modders in succession - you even have a link ;P

Hmm, my skills with Blender/Nifscope aren't that great - could you do this for me? What could I offer? :cookie: :icecream:

This looks more and more amazing all the time. I may decide to work those Telvanni planter meshes into Zhariphel. It seems I had them sitting on my hard drive and completely forgot about them! Thanks for releasing them! :)

Ooh, ROHT!? The half Chimer half Dunmer woman you can pick to replace you? Or is it her mother? Was it Zafirbel? That must be it, Zafirbel looking over her self-named bay?

PM me the file, or is it the stock "ice" floor mesh? I'd be happy to do it for you! :)

Actually, the arena pit is built using the in_t_councilhall mesh. It has the transparency removed though, since it created visual problems with the "forcefields". Also, if you could stick Zafirbel's head & hair on http://www.mediafire.com/?c4rr096ocem6b36 it'd be great!

I added an amulet with Zafirbel's Star to the statue. You can easily remove it if you want.

I increased the size of the UV for the in_t_councilhall mesh and removed the alpha-property node. I don't know if it'll end up looking funny in-game or not.

Let me know if you have any issues and I'll see what I can do.

Muchas Gracias Se?or - even if it looks funny, it's does so less than what I used before ;) Oh, and you've missed a spot when changing the neclace's texture to the rock ones :P At least such a thing I know how to change :D

Let me know if you have any issues and I'll see what I can do.

Does this also extend to requests? :deal:

You're very welcome, I like doing things for fellow modders when I get a chance. And if you have any requests I can always see what I can do, now that I am somewhat familiar with blender, my abilities have increased a little... just ask and I'll see if I can do it!

Anyone wants an NPC "avatar" in the mod? I have some areas to populate and wouldn't mind having the job easier :D Note that the NPC's name has to fit the normal naming scheme of the race (so no Dunmer named Jack Michealson or Orcs named Caryadril ;P), he/she should be kept within reason (full sets of daedric gear/levels in the triple digits etc are right out of the question) and together with the NPCs description you should post a few lines of dialogue for him/her (after all, this is to make my life easier :D)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I guess I should also mention progress made? Not much, today was spent on hacking and cutting various bits which are obselete/unneccessary or I decided that I don't like them anymore :D
I think I might try this out. an NPC avatar, you say? Interesting prospect. I am inspired to do the same in Starfire over Telvannis. Yes, that I shall do. I'll go update that thread now.
EDIT: I can't seem to find the alpha download link, any idea where it might be?
It doesn't exist for (quite) some time - the alpha was taken down at one point, and I'm not going to upload a new one until I'm finished with the interiors. Then I'll only need to clean up any unfinished scripts and the like, pack everything up... :wacko: On a second thought, I may not make another one ;P
Is their any way to influence the direction a corpse is going to fall? I have some ideas for an NPC, but right now I've got corpses falling through statics which looks terrible...
Some random screens
