[WIP] Sadrith Mora Expanded

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:10 am

I have been making a mod which will expand Sadrith Mora into a town which would truly be the Telvanni capitol of Vvardenfell. While expanding it, I also want to keep the feel of the town being grown around the tower of Tel Naga. At the moment I've made most of the exteriors and interiors - though I need to detail them, finish some areas as well as do the scripts, dialogue, quests and get some permissions. If anyone has any ideas and\or suggestions please post them, as they are welcomed.

Sadrith Mora proper
The town is expanded with additional houses, roots, mushrooms. Now it stands up to its name (as "Mora" means "forest") The points of interest are:

Arannir: Fletcher - a Bosmer who sells a selection of fine bows (made by Phijama).

Bookshop - run by a savant who will likely have some unique dialogue regarding Telvanni lore.

City watch headquarters - a place for the guards of Sadrith Mora to stay, repair their gear and train.

Dirty Muriel's Cornerclub - has gotten a renovation and now uses Barabuses' meshes.

Dorisa Sarandas: Fine Clothier - one of the finest clothiers in the land with a wide variety of items - especcially robes. The Archmagister of House Telvanni can have a special robe made for himself\herself.

Fedrara's Trinkets - a shop dealing in all kinds of items, from Crystal balls through scales and weights to Bookends and candles.

Housepod - a small house near Wolverine Hall which anyone can buy from Angaredhel for 1500 septims (a 1000 for a Telvanni). Has a hammock, table, shelves and some containers.

Lucret Janus: Jeweler - has a great selection of rings and amulets (possibly some gems too)

Marketplace House - a two-storey housepod right next to Fara's Hole in the Wall. Has a bed, decent furnishings as well as a study area. Costs 5000 septims for a non-Telvanni and 3000 for a member of the House.

Soulgem Lab - ever wondered where all the soulgems come from? Now you'll know. Slaves mine crystal shards in the tunnels under the lab and skilled enchanters turn them into soulgems. A Telvanni who has managed to gain the trust of a Master of the House (i.e. became a Mouth) can learn the method and buy the needed equipment.

The Cloak and Dagger - a dream come true for every assassin and spy. Poisoned and paralysis weapons, spells and items which help you in getting unnoticed to your target and getting rid of him. The shop isn't marked as such - the owner doesn't want to many to know about him.

Virith Brothers: Enchanters - two brothers who share their trade. Neldam Virith (the older sibling) deals with arms and armor - he can sell an aspiring Master a Silver Staff of Peace neaded to seal the pact with your Mouth, as well as make the Archmagister a staff worthy of his\her rank. Bradas Virith (the younger one) sells all kinds of enchanted clothes, scrolls and soulgems.

Underground

There are many tunnels beneath the town, many of which are grown inside its roots, while other are more natural. Anyway, noone can expect the Telvanni to leave them unused. The part closest to the surface houses the town's slaves (someone has to clean the streets, deliver supplies to the Council House etc.) and connects to two areas:

Arena - an arena rivalling that in Vivec with its splendor. All the common features (pit, training and quarters for the gladiators) are here, as well as a more shady bar.

Underroots - are the natural caverns under Sadrith Mora. A small part of them, connecting directly to the tunnels of the city houses some locals which couldn't be put closer to the town (for all kinds of reasons). Overgrown by the roots of the town they are safe from the daedra which roam in the deeper caverns. Points of interest include:

Caryanel - a worshipper of Hermaeus Mora who oversees a small shrine to the Daedra Lord. He can share with you both his knowledge of the Daedra and an inventory of daedric-themed items.

Telvanni Monster Lab - Located in a dunmeri strongold buried hundreds of years ago by the eruption of Red Mountain it is a house and workplace for several mages who try to learn how to bind different creatures and summon them by spells (like the daedra you can summon).

The Polished Bone - a shop run by an elderly necromancer who can supply other practitioners of his art with everyhing they need. Spells, ingredients, misc. items - you name it.

Vampire Haven - a place for vampires of all Clans to rest and have a "drink". Run by a couple of Aundae vampires.

The "safe" caves lie above daedra-infested tunnels, where danger avaits everyone, but ancient treasures avait - with a chance to uncover one of the greatest treasures of House Telvanni

Since it's asked somewhat often, a list of mods checked and compatible with SME (at least for now)
- Rise of House Telvanni (check out the RoHT thread for more details, it's a laugh)
- Homes to Let
- Castle Vianden
- The Hidden Patchway
- Myrabell's Clothing Emporium
- The Crimson Wire
- Waterview House
- The Vvardenfell Libraries

An alpha release is available for those, who would wish to test this mod in their game (and test it for errors ;) )

Sounds absolutely awesome! :goodjob:

The three mods I use in that area are Homes To Let, Shezrie's house mod (Waterview Cottage?), and Castle Vianden - will it conflict?

I love the 'underroots' idea. :)

Yay!

My first mod was always going to expand Sadrith Mora!

Though, I always wanted to add a quest to it, in the form of a rival Telvanni mage-lord from the Mainland coming and building his own tower on one of the nearby islands. The quest was, along with the expansion, deciding whether to side with Neloth or this new guy. Eventually, having many bridges between all the telvanni islands in Zafirbel Bay.

But, awesome mod btw!

YES! :woot:
Finally Balmora isn't getting all the attention! I've wanted a Sadrith Mora 'expanded' type mod forever seeing as how it's my favorite town and the Telvanni my favorite house.
Karpik777, are amazing. :goodjob:

Oh and Lord Hyamentar, that sounds like a pretty cool idea.

I really like how this sounds. I would also be grateful if you could avoid conflicts with Princess Stomper's Homes to Let, since my character lives into her Zafirbel Cottage (next to the Redguard lady who is a misc trader). Another mod who adds two buildings to Sadrith Mora is Vvardenfell Libraries.

I'd recommend using the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6000 by Rougetet. I'd definitely recommend it for checking conflicts and you could (if you fancy) use it to see if there any mods you could incorporate into your mod (given permission of course). That was one of things I liked about Balmora Expansion. Good luck

Thank You, my Lady for Your kind words - now I can only hope I'll be able to make the mod live up to the expextations.

Homes to Let will be completely compatible - I'll only need to move a single Emperor's Parasol. Castle Vianden and Waterview Cottage shouldn't conflict as well - although there might be a need to make them load after my mod.

Thanks for the suggestion, will do.

Go for it. Telvanni has always been my favorite.

Mine too - as one could see from my sig ;)

Does it really matter? It will be released when it's done (well, probably) whether you like it or not.

This certainly looks like a really nice mod. I'll try to follow this.

The Vvardenfell Libraries by The Wanderer places two structures in ESE Sadrith Mora; potential conflict.

In that case the only date I can give you is that I want to finish it before I'm 30 - as my birthday is in the profile, you do the math ;)

On possible conflicts:
-Homes to Let - I checked and it seems to be completely compatible
-Vvardenfell Libraries - as above
-Waterview House - will need to load AFTER my mod

Update:
AlienSlof has given me permission to use some of Her wonderful clothes in my mod. Also, I should have mentioned the Vampire Haven was meant as a tribute of sorts to Her and Her characters (mostly Basil "The Bastard").

This sounds excellent, looking forward too it :)

One other mod I might suggest taking note of is Sadrith Mora Closed (add extra roots and entrances around the town, and makes the hospitality papers actually mean something for non-Telvanni characters)

I'll keep a close eye on this one - good luck

I have incorporated the need for the hospitality papers in the mod - just need to get a script to finish that part. I'll probably won't be adding a "root wall" around the town itself though - I've never been a fan of them.

Update
- I've decided to remove my (minor) landscape changes in Wolverine Hall. This means that Castle Vianden and Wateview House will be completely compatible
- replaced the mugs in Gateway Inn and Fara's Hole with Telvanni ones from TR
- I'm thinking about an enchantment for the Archmagister's Robe. ATM it fortifies the skills favoured by Telvani (Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Enchant, Illusion and Mysticism) by 10 points and gives a 20 point sanctuary and resist magicka. Any suggestions?

That sounds pretty good to me, though I can't really suggest any enchantment because I usually end up making them too powerful. :hehe:

By the way, I love the 'underroots' idea.

Maybe a little Fortify Max Magicka in place of the Sanctuary bonus. It is a really underused effect, and always very handy for spellcasters.

This sounds great! The underroots sounds really interesting. I'd always wondered if there was any sort of passageways that lead under telvanni mushrooms (of course, I know in vanilla morrowind there aren't, but it seemed more realistsic to imagine there were).

Good Luck!

I'm already using it on the staff - don't want to overdo it.
The staff has CE:
Fortify Willpower 10
Fortify Max Magicka 5
Restore Magicka 1
Plus some shock damage and soultrap on hit.

Wouldn't add any more to either item; they're already pretty darn powerful (although pure mages are pretty underpowered in unmodded Morrowind, it must be said).

Was in Sadrith Mora today (so to speak) and it would definitely benefit some padding of the population.

Thanks for your work, will keep an eye open for a beta or release post.
