» Wed Jul 09, 2014 8:48 pm I have an i5 4690K(weird choice for not overclocking, but whatever) and recently downloaded a temperature and wattage checker. I found that when playing Two Worlds 2, the temperatures went to the mid to high 80's Celsius while my 780's temperature stayed nice and cool by comparison. I'm sure the stock fan is fine, but my gaming sessions could become dangerous. I can game for up to 12 hours at times(I have been doing long gaming sessions on consoles and even PC since I got very into gaming once I hit school age and got into RPGs), so we're talking mega long gaming sessions. I do take breaks and just pause the game, of course, but I do not like the idea of just letting this thing climb to such temperatures. In fact, I've already had my mind made up about getting an aftermarket cooler for the CPU. The GPU doesn't need one since the fans seem to have come from a company that is aware of how annoying throwing a terrible cooler is.
When not gaming, my CPU goes into the 30's Celsius to 40's Celsius.

I wouldn't mind knowing if Arctic products already have the Arctic brand of thermal paste on them, though. Also, I ended up forgetting to get the pink protector for the thermal paste on the stock cooler off before putting the stock cooler in. It's likely already melted, so is that protector dangerous after it melts for the CPU? I'm aware it is likely a demon to mess with if I touched it with my hands right now before letting things cool down in there.
So, for the time being, are the temperatures for the CPU with the stock fan fine until I get that cooler I linked to. I am picking that cooler because it is the one with a very simple installation that doesn't require me to remove the motherboard. I can't remove that thing. Last time I tried to put it back in myself, I ended up cutting my middle finger. I also have high profile RAM and don't want to switch to low profile RAM since I don't have the money to just go and get more parts(would love if I could, but that's a fantasy, not a reality) and like how the high profile RAM looks.
Thank you for your time. I do have case fans running, by the way. Not sure if adding in a third case fan would do much, though. Also, the mainboard(assuming that means motherboard) is at 115 Celsius. Is that safe for most motherboards? My room gets fairly warm and I need to keep it slightly warm to some extent for my hermit crab since I don't like using his tank heater much(though, it is stuck to the tank with tape much stronger than duct tape now, so it'll probably get more use). Yes, the hermit crab does have to live in the same room as the computer. I couldn't spend a day without his Cthulhu-esque face being seen by me right next to my desk. Don't have hermit crabs near things that likely make heavy amounts of vibration unless you have to. Vibration is how they hear the world.
I was also looking at the Freezer Pro 13, but it isn't sold at Micro Center and the only place for computer parts my parents trust fully is Micro Center since me and my mom had such a good experience there. The guy who helped me out in the Build Your Own section was very professional and patient. It does help that I was probably the most prepared customer he had likely seen in awhile, though. I even had a list of tools and clarified that that tool list was for reference and not all the tools on it would be needed.
