My Safe Eats Things

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 8:14 pm

Ohai,

It has recently come to my attention that my safe, in my room in Novac, will make items that are stored inside of it disappear. So far the only items that have disappeared are stacked thrown items. I had over 30 Tomahawks and over 30 Throwing Spears. The Spears and Tomahawks both showed there was only one item, when there were actually more than one.

Does this happen to other people a lot? And where can I get more Tomahawks after I beat Honest Hearts?

Kthxbai,
Grumpy

Report that quick, with details and/or a save game.

No, that has never happened to me. If you keep companions in your home, there could be a small chance that they can take things out of containers? That or maybe the game keeps resetting the room to how you found it, therefore deleting everything previouisly in it.

Yes, I've seen the Gun Runners have tomahawks in their inventory. They also sell .45 Auto guns/ammunition along with that. Even mods, if you're into that. Though, I'm pretty sure that you can go back to Zion even after you beat the story.

Hmm, well none of my companions are at my Motel, they follow me around. Thanks for the tip, and while you can go back to Zion, I don't think the shops are open. Gun Runners does indeed have Tomahawks.

I hope that helped, but I can't really be of any more assistance with the technical problems, lol. I'm nowhere near a techy.

Sounds more like the stacking bug than the safe eating your items.

Basically, if you have stackable items that have condition (armor and weapons, including thrown weapons), those at full item health can potentially stack invisibly with those that don't have full health. So say you have 2 Throwing Spears that have exactly 75% item health, and 30 that have 100% item health, and they're in the same container, or all in your inventory, you'll only see 2 75% health Throwing Spears; once you remvoe those 2, the stack of 30 will show up.

You can sorta deal with it by repairing the ones that aren't at full health, but it doesn't really solve the problem. I have a work-around on PC via a mod, but it's not perfect.

That sounds a lot like my problem. I have 7 Throwing Spears that are a little below 100% condition, and I have a stack of 30 Throwing Spears at 100% condition. I can only see the stack of 7 spears that are below 100%. Any fix on 360?

Repair (or throw away) the ones that aren't at full health. That's really the only option, unfortunately.

I suppose you could throw away the ones at full health, but odds are that's what you can get the most of.

What Queue said, NV has a wierd issue with weapons/armor and stacking. I've had 16 combat armors try to stack when at diff. healths and appear as one suit in my inventory/storage unitl I dropped a few.

This is actually what I use the trashcan in the novac hotel room for, items that need repair/dont want to stack

Ada Strauss stole my All-American and 2 45 SMGs once. I'd check her pockets.

i've been using it for 3 playthroughs over 200 hours combined and nothing has ever vanished in any containers in the hotel room.

Well its listed as unsafe on the wiki, and I've managed to scavange four caps from it, more then once in a single playthrough whicn indicates its inventory refreshes.
