Safehouses / Hideouts

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:09 pm

Picture this: You have a lot of loot, and you need some place to stash that loot, maybe even organize it, and chill, but you don't want to have a house in town... So you have a little cabin in the forest, or a cave, or an underground hidden hobbit-style house that you built yourself or found or liberated from bandits, and that you can upgrade with generic furniture (bed, weapon rack, potion and food storage, crafting ingredient bins, etc) purchased from a furniture store in town, or crafted by yourself. This is your base of operations, etc. You may have one or two safehouses or maybe a few scattered across the map, etc.

By generic furniture I mean that you don't have to go to a specific person to purchase the furniture for your specific house, the store exists as a furniture store and has multiple styles of furniture etc.

Anyways, even if you own a home in town, your safehouses can be a home away from home in other parts of the country, etc.

Yeah I was thinking about something like this earlier today. I like the idea, especially if you could take caves and forts as your safehouse and bandits occassionally tried to invade. It'd be really cool if you had to defend your home.

This idea makes a lot of sense. If you've just robbed someone's house, and haven't got time to sell the items right away for what ever reason, you could stash it in a cave/hideout. It doesn't make sense to store stolen loot within your own house, particularly if you live in the same town where you originally stole the loot. Just a thought.

I would love a cave as a hideout.

With wood chopping being part of the game, it would be kol if you could have an abode in the wilderness that you could manipulate the lawn by cutting down trees

It would be nice. In Morrowind if there was a particular house or hut out of the way that looked nice, I could just kill the owners and take it :P. But it would be nice to have a genuine pc hideout that wasn't just a house.

Very good idea, I thought about it too. It doesn't even have to be outside city... maybe inside sewers, or maybe a hidden cave in your basemant ...

I just wish that something like Vile Lair returns in Skyrim.
I had two houses, one was Vile Lair and one was Wizard's Tower.
I roleplayed to be the Archmage of Mages Guild who had his tower in the mountains, but used Archmage's quarters in Imperial City when he had some Guild business to do.
Still, I had a secret life of being none other, but the Listener of Dark Brotherhood and had my secret hideout in the swamp at the very south of Cyrodiil.
Only think that I would like to fix with them is that I can also place guardians in there.
My vault in the wizard tower had those imps witch actually made me worry more about my stuff. >.>
I also liked that house in Anvil that had secret room in it.
I used that one before I got my hands on the plug-ins.
Houses were done pretty well for my taste in Oblivion.
Maybe just add a house in a forest and that's it.
Still, if they have some idea to even further improve the house system for Skyrim, then all the better. ^_^

Yes. I had somewhat unoffical safehouse in Oblivion, just outside of The Imperial City. Can't remember its name but it was like -a name's- cabin.
Oh yea it was important part of the wannabe vampire slayers Guild Quest.

EDIT: JUst read the post above and remembered that i wanted to have a buyable house in many if not all villages and settlements.
