Safehouses

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:25 pm

Can anybody confirm that there are still 'normal' safehouses (that we can buy or so) in Fallout 4. Just like in the previous games.

I don't like the whole idea of building settlements, so if the safehouses are still in the game I'm happy.

I'm guessing the red rocket service stations are the safe houses, but hopefully they'll be more abodes we can buy.

just build your own? as long as you dont supply food or water it doesnt count as a settlement so if you dont want to contend with raider attacks just dont build farms or water pumps and build yourself a nice shack to put your things in.

Stick900, you are correct. The workbenches can be used to store your swag and it's safe from raiders as long as you don't attract/accept settlers.

I remember Todd saying, you have verry large sites to build your settlements and you have pre build houses.

So according to this it is still possible to buy a house in one of the cities.

Because what todd also said about settlements is "Remember this is all optional"

We plan on making settlements easily distributable, so you would in this situation, be able to choose from various community releases for a particular theme or needs.

Keep an eye out following the first week of launch.

I rather buy a house in a city, then build my own or download dorky pre build houses. So I hope Ellixhirion is right.

A forum community of content and tool creators originally based around another old game series, but one that's always had a strong interest in the Fallout series as well. We're taking Fallout 4's launch as our opportunity to formally support the game, but I don't wish to say more until there's something to show.

However when I said we, I was meaning that as a reference to the Fallout community in general, as we will be a part of that.

You do know that GECK won't be available till early 2016? So not sure what you're going to be able to do in the first week. Especially if you've never modded for Fallout.

GECK won't be necessary for this, which is much of the point.

I've rarely been satisfied with in-game safehouses. The Megaton Home was nice...Superior to the Tenpenny Suite in my opinion if only because I could get there in two load screens instead of traversing an entire building.

In New Vegas, the offered locales were always...well, they were nice, but they weren't what I could call a home base.

I eagerly await the settlement feature to make a base of operations that suits my own tastes and criteria rather than settling on something static.

Once we get a Feng Shui-esque mod, the world becomes my safehouse.?

Awesome. Settlements is a huge thing...anything that can be done to enhance and extend this will be welcomed.

I have to ask, will this support be for fallout 4 across all platforms solely PC?

The aforementioned tool for settlements will be exclusive to PC, unfortunately, as it will be third-party software. In regards to services we're going to offer on the forum, it wont be specific to any platform.

This^. First playthrough, I rather buy a house in a city with the lowest amount of load screens. Second playthrough, I may play around with the whole build my own settlement thing.

Modded in Red Rocket garages into NV and they're a nice little place to sleep, dump stuff, look at the PA the modder couldn't make usable LOL but they are a nice location and the look of them being a safehouse is pretty nice

It will be a real shame if purchasable homes are gone altogether in favour of settlement building. I have a feeling that settlements will all resemble the same style scrap shack, no matter where you build it or how you arrange things (like building a home in Skyrim's Hearthfire). I always liked the purchasable homes in these games as they were different; some suited different characters, or were in convenient locations around the map. I don't want to be a wasteland settlement architect with all of my characters, but they will still need somewhere to live.

There were briefly seen options for concrete in the E3 video. So hopefully it won't just be scrap and wood.

I still have zero idea what this guy is talking about, he keeps saying 3rd party tools. He should just say GECK. But from what he says it doesn't sound like he has any experience with GECK so I doubt he or his people will be turning out anything quicker then the experienced modders.

Not to sound like a [censored] but if he or his people have no geck experience he'll be behind the game compared to others.

Are you planning on charging for this stuff? Just from how you're talking about "offering services"...

But the GECK is 1st party, 3rd party tools are things like NifSkope and TES5Edit/FO3Edit

Our services are free, and can be fulfilled by anyone, but what we do is incentivize fulfillment with a ticketing system. Individuals earn different quantities of raffle tickets depending on what sort of high-level contributions they make, such as fulfilling particular asset requests or releasing exceptional content (making it to our shortlists).

Our raffle tickets can only be earned in such ways, and the winners receive a special badge as well as $20 cash via PayPal. We've been running this raffle every month for just over 1 year now, and it has proven to be an invaluable incentive for much of what we do.
