[WIPz] Sage's Skyrim Armory 2

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:41 am

I had my last exams today, so I should be able to get back to working on SSA 2 before the month is out. I'll probably get the trollbone weapons and all the CS stats for the new gear ready soon after.

Thanks, the exams went pretty smoothly. Edoc'sil has also made progress with the trollbone cuirass, so that is coming along nicely as well. :)

I'm not ruling it out if it becomes wanted enough... although I'm just focusing on finishing the mod right now. :)

Hasn't clipped on any of the pants/greaves I have tried. Woot woot. I would send it to ya right now but I need to fix the UVs on the chest bones. Then I will send it at ya to start working on it. Female version and ground model shouldn't be long :)

June 4th update. No great problems are in sight at the present time, but I'd rather get the whole trollbone set, including weapons, out for preview at the same time, so I won't be posting any screens before leaving on my vacation this weekend. Yes, that's right, another delay... what a surprise! I hope this won't discourage anyone from following the mod now, because I'm certainly going to finish this project when I return from my vacation in a few weeks. Thank you for your patience and have a great summer!

Regards,
Sage Rime

Looks really good, Edoc'sil.
I could think of a few of my characters who would use a helmet like that :D

Thanks! I was really happy with the way the helmet came out. Once it gets properly textured and not just using a template I made to UV from, it will be MUCH better. I think I am going to edit the greaves and boots though. They seem a bit.. clunky to me, and busy. I have an idea of what I want to change but... any suggestions?

June 25th update. I'm back from my vacation. I should be able to get working on the mod by Monday after I've sorted my mail etc. It shouldn't be that long before I get this project out there.

Excellent work there, completing the other pieces saved me from a serious headache trying to find matching pieces for the cuirass. :)

I don't know if you've modified greaves/boots yet, but they could only get better... if you ask me, I'm perfectly happy with the ones in the screenshot already.

Here is the http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/bchick222/other%20projects/troll_final.jpg of it. All that's left is finishing the female version and making world models.

I kept the old version of the greaves and boots just incase. What do you guys think?

When I compare these final screens to the ones you posted previously, I'd have to go for these latest iterations of the greaves and boots. They just seem clearer and more practical on the physical side of things.

Indeed. I thought it fit the overall theme as well. Would you like to go ahead and get your hands on them? This way you can yell at me about crappy UV-ing or something and I can fix anything while I get the female version ready. :)

Sure, just PM me to let me know how do you want to transfer the files over.

I managed to go through my material this evening, here's what's left to do (more or less accurately):

- Texture polishing regarding a few minor pieces
- Weapon stats in the CS
- Trollbone armor set textures
- Trollbone inventory icons in general
- ReadMe overhaul
- Release day screenshots
- Pre-release testing

I'll try to get some of the more time consuming (read: boring) tasks done over the weekend... namely the ReadMe overhaul and the CS stats and related calculations.

I was going through the new inventory icons as well, and I must say they've worked out extremely well - I dare say they're as good as Beth's, although done by using a very different method. All in all I expect SSA 2 to be a hefty improvement over SSA 1, more that most people would expect. :)

Here's a taste of the female version. I haven't looked at them in-game yet, so they may change a bit but yeah. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/bchick222/other%20projects/troll_fem_preview.jpg.

Here's how the cuirass looks now: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/1751/trollbonecuirasswip.jpg.

Mm. Not to complain, but from a physical viewpoint the female version wouldn't really protect the wearer from attacks without the trollbone chest plates. Female anatomy obviously makes attaching the plates a bit more challenging, but if you could come up some solution, I'd appreciate it.

As for the greaves, my nag with them is that they're actually leaving most of the skin exposed to the elements. It just doesn't feel logical when you consider that the armor is mainly used by nords in colder climates. Obviously if the armor was something common to people who live in the Black Marsh area, then it'd be appropriate for purely convenience reasons already. :)

My thoughts exactly. Especially after seeing it in-game. I think I will just make the greaves the same as the male, but keep the extra straps on the leg just to be different. As for the bone plating on the chest, I will see what I can come up with. The goal was to have it, but I was having trouble getting it to look right. We will see :)

I'm glad we agree on that one. :)

The WIP screen of the cuirass I linked to in my last post will get some updates in the near future, as I've just found the right resources to get the style right. I'll start working on the other pieces as well when time allows it.

Edit: I mainly posted the cuirass screen to show off the trollbone textures themselves, which I think are quite good.

I agree! That is a fantastic texture!

And here ya go... I think I figured out a nice way to do the bone plating. I will have to see it in-game to be sure, but I think it looks good. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/bchick222/other%20projects/trollbone_fem_wip_2.jpg
