Sahrotaar...what the...?

Post » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:01 pm

I know Sahrotaar is a serpentine dragon but I am sorry, to me he just looks like a mentally challenged eel on steroids.
Why? Why would they make him look like this? Why? I nearly spilled my drink when I saw him.

Serpentine Dragons appear to be a reference to http://www.vandersteltstudio.com/images/lotr/fellbeast.jpg from Lord of the Rings.

Oh I see! I had no idea, interesting. Still, the look doesn't really say "I'm the pinnacle of mortal fear", does it...

I don't know... I like how most of them look close up. Especially the named ones.

A Serpentine Dragon kind of looks like a Blood Dragon that's had all its skin pulled off to me.

The only good looking dragon after 300+ game hours is Alduin (because you never see him), Revered Dragons (because they look foreign and they're orange man) and the named Dragons.

Imo they should make the final game boss because a four legged beast, as opposed to wyvernal like the others. That'd just look badass. Especially if you could get one of it's babies as a pet/follower (obviously it would be a baby so it's not quite so op but also not completely useless, like most dogs)

Unfortunately, those don't exist in TES lore and that's been the case since way back in at least Redguard. All dragons are two-legged beasts and 4 legged beasts in the TES setting would have to be a different species altogether (I am aware in most contemporary fantasy this isn't the case and two legged dragons are wyverns, but TES is TES and can call whatever it likes a Dragon).

I haven't seen the serpentine dragons up close yet, so I'll reserve judgement.

Did anyone consider he was supposed to be ugly? What about dragons in this game makes you think they are supposed to be anything other then ugly?

I don't see anyone pulling hairs if they make the final boss a quadroped. Even so, it can be a different species if it wants, but considering every type of dragon has a different appearances, it'd probably be considered by Bethesda and fans just a different breed, as opposed to a different race. At least, I consider the various types to be different breeds of the same species, but by your logic they'd all be different species because every breed has a different appearance, whether big or small (especially Serpentine and Revered.)

Lord Werewolf. Do you speak Croatian perhaps?
I don't find the rest of them ugly, they're dragons, they look the way...dragons do...and then there's Sahrotaar...who looks like an eel...

I'm no master in doing graphics but to me it looks like the pixels on 'standard' dragons are done better than those on their serpentine counterparts.

It definitely seems that way. Serpentine dragons have very little detail. Of course, that could be attributed to the fact that they are serpentine...snakes have little in way of detail. The difference between serpentine dragons and the rest is as big as a difference between snakes and crocodiles.

I love the way they look. And yes, the fell beast look was probably by accident- But they're supposed to have an "Eel" look.

Personally, I think they should have taken off the wings and the legs and made it an aquatic monster, something to give people a reason to stay out of the water or to be wary of.

I just remembered the first time I fought Sahrootar. I didn't hit him with Bend Will fast enough and he fried me with frost breath in about 2-3 seconds :(
