Same Sawmills In Every Town

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 7:52 am

I'd be super interested in chatting with gamers who are really into the game, instead of trying to play alone! So we could share our experiences and gossip about it. I hope someone makes a steamgroup like this 'Sawmills in every town'

Have you guys ever play Dragon age the Origins? I always get the part with the Witch of the Wild Morrigan, and then I can't take over and have to chat through the voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80yE9jJfdkQ on this game I expect it's more voice but really boring because it sounds like someone talking into a microphone in character in a studio. So it makes me think of my gay friend who hates witch women and I went and hang out with him. I'm terrible at fantasy game solo >>>>>>>>.<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Elys do you like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlYKJ1MaDPg&NR=1

I'd love to have a chat for multiplayer! Since it's on Steam, we could talk about our encounters n such!

Yes I've played DAO, and I happen to enjoy Morrigan's voice.
But if that can appease you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deoEM4VxNq0

I used the "fruit" related dialogue in some of my playthrough. Leliana is cute with her french accent and her false innocence.
Multiplayer, there is no such thing in Dragon Age :cookie:

I seriously hope not!

Agreed, I doubt they are doing anything with little time left. The game is done and being printed to ship by now, I am pretty sure.

Have some of you not been reading every iota of information on this game :P? That's okay, but rest assured.. I can't link anything but I know one of the devs talked about the fact that different areas/towns have dramatically different architecture and feel to them. They took the time to make it seem like they were built by different people.

Yes, and I believe that we were informed that different regions would have unique industries, as well.

Oh no I've played the demo at the events and I've seen them, I'm just wondering if they will be changed in the last 2 weeks we have left

And in that time you went to all of the cities? The two saw mills I have seen so far have been different. One is in the first trailer in the windmill, with the blade rotating in a circle. The other is the one where the guy is feeding logs into the mill which looks to have the blade stationary while the logs are pushed over it.

Although woodcrafting is no joke! I've known many a man who wishes to escape into a serene place on the land with a house that didn't look at me. It's very difficult, and could take one man a long time! I just want the fantasy with no bugs and voice chat gamers! Or else I'd build an actual house.

(maybe if you are young, you could dream of the stories of respect to create a wooden house on the weekends (ALTHOUGH we should meet on WEEKENDS in SAME SAWMILLS steam group). (that was to guy). Have you ever been to a town where the Sawmills were different, but the women looked the same?

Saw mills wouldn't look drastically different going from place to place in real life, so I don't see why they would in this game. I don't mind a little copy/paste on generic buildings, because that's pretty much how reality works. Most public buildings and chain-stores are built from identical schematics.

Haven't you guys seen that throne of iron story! (in the game of thrones, something something). It's all chat for the girls, but this game has actual battles n such where you want to PROTECT your woodworker and go to fantasy land. I want to join with you, and listen to what you thinking since it's boring alone! Alone all you can do is like reverse engineer the game mechanics and become a tool of the woodsman.

These towns are all in the same social structure, built by likeminded, poor individuals. They didn't import day labor from Morrowind or Black Marsh.

Go anywhere in the world and walk around a neighborhood, then drive 50 miles away to another neighborhood. They all look similar.

Um. Yes, they do. I'm sorry if you haven't really travelled that much in your lifetime, but I've not only visited many states but have lived in 6 of them, east and west coast. When you drive around an economic area, those who live within that area have similar technology and funds, hence they have similar domiciles. If you drive across the country and go to another similar economic area, it will look just like it. The plants may be different and there may be small modifications for climate, but they can only afford/do the same things.

Then do tell me how many variations of sawmills or windmills you can have real life or a game. People worry too much, this game isn't about the graphical level for me, rather the aesthetic of it all. Next-gen is still crappy when the style is completely lacking. WoW is a good example how stylized art can make up for a relative old graphical engine/level.

A lot, actually. There is no limit to creativity when architecture is involved. And I think it is a legitimate concern if little effort has been put in to the game worlds originality and creativity.

That said, games these days are getting pretty good at making interesting and original landscape. Take Rage, or Dead Island for example. I do think Bethesda have a little ways to go in this regard, but I dont think you have anything to worry about in Skyrim. The producers/Todd are basically tripping over themselves to brag about the games environment.

But it wasnt always like that, which has only really come into being in modern times with "factory standard" like structures. Way back when, people made very good use of the surroundings and environmental factors, as well as the many many different building techniques of every little creed and culture that used to be around. You dont see them much now days though because they all died out or were assimilated into other larger/dominant cultures.

In the game universe set in ye' old times, especially one as diverse in lore and culture as TES, we should be seeing a lot of uniqueness in architecture and use of the surrounding environment.

*Edit* sorry for the double post.
