Sanctuary - dead body decay? Never?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 3:58 am

Long, long after all other bodies I've killed in other locations have decayed and disappeared - the insects killed in Sanctuary are still sitting in homes and street.

Maybe they ate radioactive twinkles and are forever preserved, but it seems a bug that I'm now hoping doesn't mean if other things are killed in settlement borders, like say attacking raids, that their bodies don't just sit there forever too.

Anyone had the insects from Sanctuary start eventually decay? I am on game day 29 and these annoying bodies in settlement have yet to decay

How do you grab bodies and move them? I still have a town full of dead ghouls that won't seem to go away.

also - titled this as sanctuary but should have said settlement - the dead moles for example as part of taking over the Red Rocket settlement are also just sitting there.

re: moving the bodies - good suggestion, but it is limited workaround. (to move bodies, like prior FO games just hold down your pickup key, E key on PC - and it will trigger an 'attach' function. You can now move your mouse and the attached body will be dragged along in rag doll style.

BUT - this only work for small bodies. At Red Rocket for example, I can drag and move the smaller moles, but the one larger mole is stated as 'too heavy to carry' and can not be moved, dragged by this rag doll function.

Is there a console command for delete body? I'm sure there is but forgotten all my FO console commands other than PRID

Good mod idea: let you "scrap" bodies in your workbench zone of control for bone and other such materials

Console command to remove a body or item from the game is: disable

Click on the body and type disable, that should remove them.

On console, Xbox One, I think if you press and hold "A" it will grab the body and you can move it around. I killed molerats at Red Rocket too and they have all gone away. What platform are you on, PS4, Xbox, or PC?

Am on PC and either due to bug or terrain, the largest mole rat I killed at Red Rocket is non-movable, says too heavy. All the other lighter bodies - smaller mole rats, insects, I could move and dump.

But with the console command above, that seems better option for now till an actual fix to allow body decay in settlement borders, or something like that.

My looting is grandmaster rank. I loot bodies as I'm still firing on next enemy.

With no highlight body or easy toggle, finding bodies sometimes is a major pain, so I've learned ro shoot, loot, shoot, etc

Otherwise in grass and non level terrain, bodies are imcredibly hard go find and loot.

All my settlement border killed mobs are there forever until i drag or use console. I'm using console now because the bodies i moved outside settlement borders are still there.

I prefer to do things the safe way.

Open console, click the item/dead body then enter disable, if the RIGHT item vanishes or the wrong item does I then enter enable to make it re-appear. If I had the right item selected I then enter markfordelete so on the next cell reset ... it vanishes. This SHOULD fwork for anything but I know it works for corpses on Skyrim/FONV/FO3 so should work here. I have been told disable is "bad" as it doesn't actually remove something. just hides it from view and collision.

I believe, and could be wrong here, the reason it won't let you move bigger things is based on the strength stat. Ive had a pile of dead bodies in my settlement for awhile. I just put them in the corner but Ill probably using console commands to get rid of them. Although I do think it is kind of funny now so Im not so sure I want to remove them.

The dead raider on the far side of the bridge to RR doesn't decay either. In fact, I moved it into the nearby car and it resets to the bridge when I come back. And even though I can move the dead raider, the dead mongrel dog next to him is 'too heavy' to move! Must be a big damn dog.

Yep, there's a dead guy and a dog right outside the bridge to Sanctuary. I've thrown that guy off the bridge a dozen times. He just respawns.. They really should make it so you can scrap the dead bodies/skeletons and just get bones.
