Sandbox Editor - issues importing heightmaps

Post » Sun Mar 27, 2011 3:18 pm

Hi.

I need urgent answer to this. Crymod is down, and this is driving me crazy.

If i set my max height to 64 and i import the heightmap, then the white is really high. But the problem is that in terrain editor everything shows as white. Although ingame it looks correct.

Then i change max height to 256 and import the same heightmap, then the mountains and features are really low. Not as high when you import it with a max height of 64.

Why is this? This makes no sense. Surely if the max height is more, then the terrain should be higher, not lower. Its weird. Its like its making my heightmap darker.

Any help suggestions would be much appreciated. This is driving me up the wall.

If it's a lower max level, there's less of a range.

White = High (in comparison to the max height)

If you set max height as 20, then everything will show up white, as the height is really close to the maximum.

If you set max height as 1000, everything will show up black, because they don't reach that height.

Maximum white is the utmost peak of the height limit always.

Yes i understand that.
What i dont get is, surely if my max height is 5000 and i import the heightmap, then the white must still be white.

But thats not happening. I mean its suppose to read the imported heightmap as is and not make its own adjustments
