Sandbox editor...

Post » Mon Nov 23, 2009 1:37 pm

so, the media coverage on the run up to release was almost equal parts game and equal parts sandbox coverage. Now i know not everyone knows how to use the sandbox to its full potential, but for those of us who put in alot of hours into the previous editions sandbox editors, its a little disspointing to not see it included in the game, especially since it was apparently in the leaked version of the game.

Please dont say youre going down actigreed's route and removing mod opportunity for the game? that would be extremely disheartening, especially since working in maya and 3ds max making stuff to put into the new editor was all for nothing now.

(also, if youre going to port stuff from consoles to PC, at least try to hide that fact and not have 'press start' on the splash screen, amidst a plethora of other signs of it being a console port, this is just a school boy error)

Isnt that what other game developers out there are doing right now? Its always about the money. And activision and COD has shown that gamers are dumb enough to buy overpriced crippled games and overpriced DLCs.

I really hope that isnt the case, Im working on some portfolio work (planning on getting into the industry) and i wanted to do some work in a commercial game engine, UDK is really common and an absolute hastle to use, but ive enjoyed using previous sandbox installments, i figured having work in the most up to date engine would be a boon for my CV, clearly im going to need to rethink my plans or everything is going to go into UDk and will have BLOOM EVERYWHERE.

Well Crysis Warhead also had no Editor included and they delivered it only for MP stuff...
I do really hope they will deliver it with the DX11 Patch.

I live in Germany but thats no German quality, thats only EA crap...

All that talk about the improved sandbox editor... Should have known it was just a load of bull. I dont use map editors or mod tools, but still, id expect them to release it seeing how much the modding community has done with crysis 1. And after all didnt crytek said in a live interview that they value their modding community?

which is why im kind of annoyed, they made all that fuss over the editor and how great it is to use, only to not release it at all? oh, actually they have released it, but for commercial use, i highly doubt any modder has the money for that with out taking out a business loan of some sort :/
