So, the question is: How to host an own server without renting one? (hint: I want official Public Dedicated Sever files)

Hint: you might wanna check: http://www.gamesas.com/support/ but pssssssht thats still a secret that they released them as well.

Wait? REALLY? Awesome! Thanks Crytek!

cry-adam please help

Check this,

Go to your Start Menu->Crysis 2 Mod SDK 1.0->Engine Setting Manager
Point your Root path to where ever you install Crysis 2, for me it's "D:\Crytek\Crysis2",
if the engine status says rc.exe found, you should be set to go. :D

Too bad, it runs flawlessly on my laptop(G53SW).

I would say try to remove Crysis2, clean your registry, and reinstall again.
You don't have to go through online update, this is how I did to reinstall after DX11 go live.
1.Move my original Crysis 2 folder somewhere else, remove it later.
2.Search "Crysis" in regedit, and delete everything.
3.Install stock Crysis2(I actually copied all the files from DVD to HD, it works well.)
4.Install 1.9 patch, DX11 update, and then HighRes texture update.
5.Install Crysis_2_ModSDK_1.0.exe
6.Run the Engine Setting Manager, so it finds rc.exe
7.Try run it.

Good luck!
