Sandbox 3.

Post » Wed Nov 10, 2010 5:33 am

So i am guessing most of you are wondering where sandbox 3 is.. well so am i. I just want to take some time to explain to most of you that sandbox 3 should have come out with Crysis 2 on the CD, Just have a look at these videos:

Notice on the top left it says "Sandbox 3" So don't get mistaken with an engine editor. And don't forget the part with the large open environments which they didn't use crysis 2.

Its in the leaked version for crying out loud.. why did they hold it back? What was the purpose? Why was nothing said? I mean i see a complete sandbox in all those videos working flawlessly, they had enough time to make it.. the least they could of given us PC gamers was a working sandbox but we didn't even get that just a silly console port..

Hopefully someone somewhere can modify the leaked version since i'm sure its fully modifiable and port the engine over to the full game i would really love that.

Also to note that i read somewhere that they might release it this summer as some **** indie version but why? Thats just terrible.. they showcase such an amazing engine then they decide to not release it just to dumb it down like they did the game.

People say crysis wars did not come with a sandbox on release but crysis 1 did and the sandbox was what they probably used to create its single player campaign and its multilayer levels, i'm sure they also used the sandbox 2 engine to make the wars level's, anyway i'm going to assume that they used "sandbox 3" to put together the single player campaign and multilayer levels for crysis 2. Crysis is more than a game with its modding tools but without them its just another game, theres no reason whatsoever not to release the sandbox with crysis 2.

Yeah i know it probably is the DLC.

But what really bugs is me is that crytek has not said a single word about this at all.. i mean maybe but i haven't read anything anywhere.

It's being witheld cause of greedyness; they've ended up signing a draconian publishing agreement with EA that forces them to hold out on PC content as long as possible to get the most sales out of the console versions, cause that's where EA's getting their profit from. Nathan Camarillo hinted at something like this on twitter about a week ago, the tweet has since been deleted.

A standalone engine is not a level editor for a single game. Why do you people have such a hard time understanding that?

I guess it's possible that if such a thing does get released for free it would be able to load Crysis 2 assets and levels. But who even knows maybe they'll have changed something for that release to prevent that. In fact I'm starting to suspect they'll do that on purpose to prevent modding.

There are SOME modders that have a legit copy of sandbox editor 3 because they are a student and they are approved by crytek to use it for only student class purposes. Something i read somewhere, cannot remember but if that was likely the subject then i don't see why they would like release it in Crymods for other people. Then again i don't think anyone has access to it.

Isn't the leaked version a beta or an ACTUAL sandbox 3 editor with no glitch? I would never download it anyways. I can wait for summer.

Man.. just imagine if they never bothered to do Crysis 2 and kept the PC route going, i'd love to see Crysis 1 re-made in a whole work with cryengine 3. That'd be amazing. As long it wasn't dumbed down. Physx is SO much different in Crysis 2. Crysis 1 has MUCH more physx unfortunately.

Presumably the Sandbox in the leak is just the version they used at the time of the leak.

the reason there is no sandbox editor is because cryengine 3 currently is only dx9 capable. (maybe there is a dx 11 version but that one is only in the hands of crytek devs) You will probably see a sandbox editor when the techdemo nvidia dx11 version of crysis 2 shows up.

No it isn't don't make up things. I'd be very surprised if they made the game in DX9 on a DX11 only editor.

okay then why don't you go on cryteks sight and look for where it says cryengine 3 is dx11 capable. Go ahead look you will not find it

and I am not making this up because its fact. There is no current retail build of cryengine 3 running dx11.

I have thoroughly racked my brain pondering this, the final is such a dumbed down version in so many ways, it's, astounding really.

They are holding it back for bugs on it and/or stop the community to mod the game and make it as it should be in first place.
I think both.

they are holding it back because of the lack of dx11 capabiltiy. You watch when they finally get the dx11 version of crysis 2 out the editor will either be along with it or right afterwards

you can read this post here it will tell you everything you need to know

I forgot to mention that there was also a 64 bit version in the leaked game.. the official release has just 32 bit.

From what I heard the 64-bit of the leak version was terribly buggy compared to 32-bit. I still called the people gay for downloading the leak but what they had to say was interesting in terms of there being a 64-bit version, I think some DX11 files they found (I THINK), and that sandbox editor 3.
