Post » Fri Jun 21, 2013 3:48 am

I don't know where this topic falls under so i will post this in General Discussion

so my question is what happens after save 999? i found threads off site with this same topic that says the game will still function but a check up is required after every playthrough just in case

can anyone clarify what happens after Save 999? that will be helpful thanks

I've been up to 5k saves. Just as long as you are cleaning your save folder, your game will be fine.

Do you mean, the save counter, or having 999 saves simultaneously?

Don't they have 4 digits? I think FNV has 4 digits, so it'll go to 1000 and live to tell its grandkids about it

I cannot remember what happened that long ago, I was not even paying attention to the number, but I can also assure you it went to 1000 on the next save. I am on save 5924 and still going.

My latest save file is "Save 33647" and I currently have 869 save files in my save folder. I haven't face any problems with them.

I have well over 1000 saves, no problems. You're fine, nothing to worry about :)

Blame it on 11/11/11

By Talos, how do you manage all of that?! I get disorientated with just ten save files!

I looked at everyone's insane amounts of save file numbers, and I feel like the odd one out now . The most I've ever had is just about 500.

When I create a character or I'll reload old character to play with I save a few new saves enough fill the shown part of savefile list. That allows me to save faster when I can just click somewhere on the list and rewrite any of the shown saves without the fear of rewriting save of another character. I have several characters and they are well saved and orientated. When the characters are in order the savefiles are too.

How do you organize different save files like that?

I count only one difference between savefiles and that is the character in them. That said I rather have groups of savefiles - one for every character (I have 33 characters) and some may have more than one group if I have retired them but have played with them later again. There's no need to have order inside a file group. I never switch characters without carefully considering so I have never faced any chaos in my saving system. (there are also a bunch of savefiles without meaning from my first character before I switched autosaving off)

A while back, I suggested to someone on the New Vegas forum to save while having the camera focused on the front of your player character so it is easy to tell from the images when loading a save on who is who.

I wonder why Bethesda did not keep the feature from Morrowind where you can name every save anything you want.

That would be very helpful. Though the saves do have the name, race, and level of your character on them along with the location's name at which you saved at.

That was nice system and you still can do so if you save via console. But I have nothing against the current system. It still shows the character name and the date of file when you are choosing what to load.
