"save flagged as invalid" papyrus log error

Post » Sun Aug 04, 2013 2:22 pm

Has anyone ever seen this in a papyrus debug log before? I've tried googling it but the text (or bits of it, like "flagged as invalid") don't seem to show up anywhere else online. The rest of the log doesn't say anything pertaining to my mod, but the user is saying his file was corrupted after uninstalling it, so I'm trying to figure out what would make Skyrim flag a save as invalid.

[08/01/2013 - 10:25:22PM] Loading game...	[08/01/2013 - 10:25:22PM] VM tried to load save flagged as invalid. Ignoring load request.	[08/01/2013 - 10:25:22PM] Papyrus attempted to load a save flagged as invalid. Load ignored. what you mean corrupted after uninstalling it, some user of yours got this in his log after uninstalling your mod, or what?

couldn't this simply be cause it's just _not_there_ anymore...? like when you get that "this save relies on content blah" message, maybe this flag just indicates this (bilnd assumption though!!)

but the log doesn't look as if it hadn't still loaded that save. or do i read that wrong?

The original bug report from the user was:

Put the Vitality to Pause, waited an hour to dispel effect, uninstalled mod....file now corrupted...whatup?

"Corrupted" is pretty vague (and annoyingly inflammatory...), I don't think I've ever seen Skyrim throw up a message saying "this file is corrupt" or anything like that so it could mean anything. From past experience, mostly with Fallout mods, people usually say their save is corrupted when their game crashes during or just after trying to load it. The guy still hasn't told me anything more specific than "it's corrupted now, wtf?" but I'll try asking him for some actual symptoms and see what he says.

I've never seen a Papyrus log report say that before.

Rather than try and get him to explain this, why not simply ask for the save file so you can poke and prod it yourself? It's usually the only way to get past any lack of technical knowledge or unwillingness on someone's part to do anything more.
