I removed TheWellOfMinlorada.esp from my load order and when loading a save made in Frostcrag I get the usual "This save was..." warning, click OK and then end up in Tiber Septim Hotel when the savegame is loaded. I know it's the safe zone for spawns, but what could possibly cause the PC to end up there when loading a save made in another location. Guess I'll just try loading a save before I added Minlorada but curious about what might cause it.

The only thing I know that can is if the PC is saved in a cell that no longer exists. I wouldn't think this could be caused just by shifting your load order from removing a mod, but hey, this is Oblivion

Yes, I checked that I hadn't unchecked Frostcrag by mistake but everything was as it should. Works fine when loading a save prior to installing the mod so no biggie - but quite weird.
