I was wondering fi the new 1.07 patch is save game compatible. Also do I need to update my game if I am not going to play DLC, whatever that means?

My game stopped working after 1.07. If you aren't having problems, I would not update. But save games...load ok...my game just freezes. This also happens with new games however.
