Will this game have a proper Save System on PC, or will it be console crap as the former?

I'm surprised there hasn't been much discussion about this lately, if the maps are more open and they stick to C2's checkpoint system the fun of saving and replaying certain parts will die...

I agree, these days many games that had both checkpoints and save games removed the latter turning making impossible to replay some parts of the game without restart the whole mission or get killed and have to go 10 minutes back in time.

It pissed me off the first time I saw a game like that and it still does. Whoever had the idea of removing savegames from all games was a true |@~#€|·""%.

I remember when I was 14/15 PC games with checkpoint systems were heavily criticized and labelled as suffering "consolitis"

It seems gaming has been set back at least half a decade!

Far Cry 1 had a checkpoint saving system.

Checkpoint saving has nothing to do with consoles.

That's because Far Cry was an incredibly flawed game and their AI was full of bugs

Checkpoints have always been a common practice in consoles (that and the famous Save Points that are more or less "optional checkpoints"), apparently it saves you a lot of trouble with the AI.

Checkpoints are not "old school," they are consolitis.
Symptoms include inferior graphics, sluggish gameplay, clumsy user interfaces, checkpoint-based save systems, a lack of dedicated servers, limited customization and simplified game mechanics.
Coupled with symptoms of consolitis (Checkpoints without any quick save?! Really?!)
In fact, there's a lot of backtracking to be done in Soul Reaver 2. This, coupled with the use of save points, is not only a case of consolitis, it's frustrating at points.

When Soul Reaver 2 came out on pc there wasn't a single review that didn't complain about the console-like save system in the game
