i think they should pull a "game of thrones". the first time you play the game your character actually gets executed. then a big GOTCHA! message pops up and the game starts for real.

they could also make it a quick time event but not give you any warning so that the first time you play its impossible to beat the quicktime event.

Depends on how urgent the main quest seems. If it's like Oblivion's "IF YOU DON'T GET TO JAUFFRE NOW THE WORLD WILL EXPLODE!!!" I'll do the MQ, if it's Morrowind's "report to this dude when you get to him, feel free to relax along the way" then I may do the Companion guild quests or something.

Main quest unless I stumble upon side-quests. Always prioritize side-quests.

EDIT:Actually, get started with smithing if possible. Better gear=win!

Explore surrounding wilderness, but wont go everywhere immediately.... I want to stretch out the amount of time where im in awe of everything.

1) Buy some decent clothing and get some supplies from the nearest town
2) Do all of the small, petty quests
3) Bounce from chosen Guild quests and side quests
4) Embark on the main quest

Most likely look for the nearest quests/blacksmithing jobs in a town and get started at making my fortune. :tops:

I'm the opposite. If main quest is like Oblivion's, I will play it up to dragon shouts then ditch it completely for the next 200 hours game time, then maybe come back to it.
