Savegame screenshots malfunctioning

I have a big stable modlist, good framerates. I'm happy. Just two issues, both of which I can live with, but I don't know what's causing them.

  • The savegame screenshots--the ones that appear on your list of saves on the screen where you choose which to load--are just a blur of color. Not a blurry picture. But each one is different. So, I suspect they are pics, just messed up.
  • Clicking on rubies crashes the game. I'm really not sure if it is only rubies, but I haven't noticed it with anything else, and I do a fair bit of crafting.


Load order below. I also run OBSE, OBGE, Elys uncapper, Elys silent voice, OSR, weOCPS, Sound Commands and Pluggy. I play with wrinklyninja's Cel Shader + EdgeAA shader active.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of trying that for this problem. I'll see if it works.

#2 3D Mart's Monster Mod - Gems & Gem Dust.esp [Version 3.7b3p3] <-- You should not use this with FCOM or OOO. OOO already has G&GD. If you want a more advanced version get the OBSE rewrite for OOO. There is a link on the TESIV:POSItive Downloading Mods page.

Eh... It may not work the way the authors intend, but it works in a way I like. I've set up FCOM with and without the MMM G&GD plugin, and I prefer it with.

I am curious, though, to find out why rubies (and it does seem to be only rubies after more testing) crash the game. I suppose some TES4Edit-ing is in order... Still, if anyone has a clever idea about what I might look for first, that would be appreciated.

Hey, Tomlong, conflict doesn't necessitate crashing. I'm interested in tracking down exactly what is causing the crash. Since everything besides rubies is working in a way I like, I'm going to look into TES4Edit and see if I can't figure it out. And, yes, if it turns out there's no way for me to resolve the crash without changing or doing away with the plugin, I will.

There's plenty of reasons to leave known conflicts in your load order. See, for example, the various ways you can use both LAME and Suprem Magicka. Conflicts just mean one mod is winning out. Up to me if I prefer a different winner than most, isn't it?

Do you understand the nature of the conflict?

Some gems end up with OOO scripts, others end up with MMM scripts. For a lot of people, the only problem is inconsistent behaviour between gems from the different sources.

Some people have crashes, yes, and some people have very severe crashes. A lot of people can use them both just fine as long as they don't mind the inconsistent behaviour.

Yes, I have heard, and it seems that gothemasticator, unfortunately, falls in to the unfortunate group.

If you read my original post again, you'll see that
  • I know what I'm doing.
  • It's a minor issue I'm curious about fixing but can live with.


It's just not very helpful to just tell me to do things your way. It's not very helpful to not acknowledge that I have my own preferences. It's not very helpful to get a last disparaging word in and then leave the thread, having established yourself as knowing better.

I'll let y'all know if I find something clever with TES4Edit.

Quite probably yes. The OBSE rebuild may be of help with preventing the crashes.

But, if he wants to use TES4Edit to see if he can find an error, more power to him. Perhaps someone might find the cause of the crashes someday and I'd hate to discourage anyone from trying.

That's why I'm against a blanket statement of "Don't use G&GD with OOO". Make them aware of the potential conflict, make them aware of the OBSE rebuild and let them decide for themselves if the conflict is bad enough.
