Saves Broken

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:32 am

I have 3 saves all in commonwealth and they don't work. I can go back and undo about 2 hours of what I have done but this isn't really wanted. 2 of my saves just infinitely load when I try to load them and the other one is listed as corrupt so it cannot be loaded in to.

I submitted a support ticket and it said to look into this so this is what I am doing.

I have windows 7 and am running an R9 290x if this is any help.

I have the exact same problem. I made a Steam Forum post and a couple of people are having the same problem. http://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/496881136900127489/

I'm having the same problem as OP. My saves are in commonwealth and I'm 19 hours into the game :(. Please help on a fix for this as they're not loading at all.

I'm now having the same issue. None of my game saves will load and I have to kill the fallout4.exe process to be able to restart the game as everything is locked at the loading screen. This just started this morning.

Ugh, I was hoping they got this sorted out. Corrupt save games really, really svcked in 3 and NV.

If you're on Steam disable the Steam Cloud game saves.

Pretty sure I'm experiencing the same thing. All of my save files are failing to load, but I can start a new game just fine. Rather than freezing though, the game simply crashes to desktop.

27 hours lost. Awesome.

I feel your pain. That's exactly what happens to me except I don't crash to the desktop. I've tried starting a new game and loading my save from there, but that didn't produce any results.

So here's a correction to my previous post. I did get one of my saves to load, but it's from 3 hours in. So only 24 hours of play time lost!

I have absolutely no idea what the difference is, or why this save isn't corrupted and the other are. Extremely frustrating.

I am currently running windows 10 with an r9 390 radeon vid card. I can't get fallout 4 to save nor can i pull up a saved game. I found this out after 4 hours of play. Can't say I was a happy camper. Is there a fix for this?

Just a hunch, do any of you with corrupted saves have Steam Cloud active?

Could that be the problem? I have steam cloud activated on my saves, so i'll try disabling it.

Were you able to fix broken saves or just fix the saving/loading in general?

ARGH!! I have almost 1.5 days into this game and my last manual save is literally over 10 hours of playtime ago...

And all my autosave/quicksaves won't load (crash to desktop.)

What did you do to fix your savegames?

I really hope there is a fix being worked on.

What I had to do to get my saved games to work (only worked on windows 10) I had to go to my fallout 4 directory's and make sure that all users on my account had the same security allowances. In other words all items checked. I turned off steams cloud save. Recertified that the game data was correct. (There is way to do this in steam) It fixed some corrupted data from the initial download. I also had to create a saves folder. On windows 10 the directory is( c:\users\username\documents\my games\fallout4 ) you need to make a directory called saves. Make sure all the security issues for it are allowed. right click the new folder goto properties then security and give it the permission to make changes to the directory. This fixed my issues.

After I did all of this I haven't had any more issues.

I have been killed by mines and when a save is loaded the mine is gone. The only way to get the mine back in a prior save is to quit to desktop and reload the game. Seems like variables held in memory are not being reset when a save is loaded.

@harley dude

The same thing happened with Skyrim - I think it's a feature to speed up saving/loading. I discovered it in Skyrim when accidentally buying too many items at a store and reloading the autosave only to find that the items I did mean to buy were missing as well.

As you found the workaround is to not save/reload in the same area if you want the item you took/used/bought/exploded there.

And on the main topic, I've been having the same problem (occasionally) with crashes to desktop when loading the game. With my frequent saving I usually don't lose too much progress until last time when I lost a few hours. So my unprofessional recommendation until there's a fix is to save often and try to reload your latest save occasionally to ensure you're not playing a 'dead-man walking' situation.

I've PMed GStaff as requested.
