Saving webpages?

Why do the webpages that I save take over 1min to load?

what?

As in:

1. It takes you 1 minute+ to save a webpage

2. It takes you 1 minute+ to open an html (and related) document in your web browser

Which is it?

If it is #1, how are you saving it (saving it as what filetype and in what browser)?

If it is #2, how is the document structured?

Assuming you're doing file->save as, you're saving the web page as it is now to your harddrive. But unless you load that exact same file, not the page from the web address, it's not going to be the file you saved. If it's a bookmark, you're not saving anything from the webpage other than a shortcut to the address. Either way, the web page is going to reload every time you go to that address unless it's cached. I don't know of any way to permanently cache a web page.

if your saving the actual HTML then the html file is most likely still pointing to the images on the actual website, and possibly the .css file on the actual website as well

Anyone who makes a website using all absolute linking is insane

Since links in any decent html document will be relative, usually you have one of two options when saving the page: download just the HTML, or download the HTML with all linked content.

Friends don't let friends use IE.

Get new friends.

EDIT: But seriously. IE is a giant security hole. I wouldn't be surprised if someone stole your information already. :/

Yeah, try Firefox and get unMHT, then save webpages as MHT files.
