Savior of Bruma Statue

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:16 am

My weirdest statue was with a character who used battlestaffs (from Trollf's Armamentarium) and at first the statue was in the wrong pose - instead of the weapon raised in one hand victoriously it was in the standard two-handed fighting position. When I next came to look at it, the whole statue keeled over like a drunk and then righted itself & got into the right pose. It was bizarre and had me giggling for minutes. I wouldn't have believed the glitch if I hadn't seen it myself. I guess the game was confused by a non-standard type of weapon. Sadly, I've never been able to repeat the glitch.

My guy is wearing a robe of some sort with a sword, I think it is steel, iron or ebony maybe. I did it at a lower level. I like the robes + sword combination.

I learned I had a statue in Bruma recently. I went to go see what it looked like and I was pleasantly surprised. It was an Argonian with the Shrouded Armour and Hatreds Soul bow and arrows equipped. I really want to know what others looked like. Feel free to respond. Oh and if you can post a picture, I would love to see it.

I play vanilla 360 version. I have been told in the game I look just like my statue. Do I really have a statue or is this for the PC version only(mods etc) I haven't played the game in so long it might give me a reason to start playing again. Thanks.

Nope. In front of the North Gate in Bruma. The statue in front of the chapel is, iirc, Tiber Septim. The people of Bruma won't remove him for obvious reasons. Remember that big boulder in front of the gate? That's where the statue ends up.

Oh, now I feel stupid. Anyway, I can't find it either and I don't know what boulder you are talking about.

Go to Bruma's north gate, It's just to the right when you step inside. There is a large boulder there until it gets replaced with your statue after the related quest.

It took me ages to find it and when I eventually did see it, I reloaded the save and changed my clothes. ^_^

Yes, your statue can die.

Were you a vampire at the time, or were you effected by any poisons?

You can use the console to play around with your statue too. Just save your game first.

You can see the rocks to either side of the north gate here: http://images.uesp.net//b/b1/OB-Map-Bruma.jpg

Heading out of the city, the rock where your statue shows up is to the left. Entering Bruma from the north gate, it is to the right as you step in the gate.

From the wiki:
When you return to Bruma from Cloud Ruler Temple, you will find a statue of you as the Savior of Bruma, located to your right when entering the city from the North Gate. The statue's appearance is determined (and it spawns) the moment you enter a "new" cell occupied by Martin. This will usually be when you open the door to Cloud Ruler Temple after he has returned there, but can also be on the road to it if you intercept him along the way. The armor and weapon will be the best quality items that you had in your inventory at the time, not necessarily the items that you had equipped.

The game determines the "best" items, not just the most expensive items, taking into account enchantments; for example, the Dark Brotherhood Black Hand Robe has zero value but will take precedence over many other items, including some magical armor. If you are very particular about the appearance of your statue, it is recommended that you leave all of your additional items in a safe place before talking to Martin. If you possess a quest item that cannot be removed that you do not wish your statue to wear, it is still possible to work around this; see the Notes below.

I wish Bethesda had some common sense and let us choose what we wanted on our character.

I have no idea. Only Petrose so far has completed the quest a long time ago and I have no idea what he was wearing. I'm sure he's been to Bruma since, but has forgotten about the statue, so we've never even looked at it yet. Next time I fire up Oblivion, I'll have to load him up and check it out.... if I remember to.

Perfect amber armour all over, except for my helmet and I have a magnificent looking staff from OOO. In short, made sure I was prepared.
(Also, shouldn't this be in the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section?)

The moderator who had more than one window open when she replied and didn't notice it was in the wrong forum has now moved it to spoilers.

Sorry about that.

I make it a point to remove all excess armor and weapons from my character (usually into my Bag of Holding mod-added portable container) except that which I want the statue to have, before talking to Martin. I also dump torches since they can sometimes appear on your statue.

On one of the mod races I use, the statue jumps around when I use the flying ability...need to modify the script to remove the ability if it's on a character other than the player character.

I never completed the Oblivion MQ (yes, one year playing and I dind't complete it yet, I'm pro :celebration: ), but I heard something about glitches with custom races mods. Would there be any problem if I finish the MQ with a Mystic Elf and modded clothing and weapons?

Good info, Talaran. Thanks. I know I didn't have any diseases or poison effect. I'm pretty careful with that stuff. Odd though, I went to Bruma for a screenshot and I found http://i33.tinypic.com/debof9.jpg

I'm hoping it's another play that it happened on and not this current one.

Finally dug out a couple shots I took:

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/6026/screenshot58p.jpg was based on myself, and turned out to be a mage. He picked up the tan robe and hood from SI, and I "cheated" a bit to add most of his useful Sigil enchants to them. I don't remember what weapon and shield he used, but they were enchanted too. The one thing I do remember is that he wore sandals everywhere, like me

http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/9407/screenshot57h.jpg was my dremora who grew interested in helping mortals by doing KotN first. He stuck with an enchanted Daedric mace, enchanted tattered robes (at least I think that's the tattered version), the shield's probably from the Blades and also enchanted, and he wore the Crusader boots.

Mine was surprisingly accurate, it had the full blades armor but what i was disappointed with it had a staff...i dont mind that too much but i was hoping for what i used, the Northwind Katana, though i cast spells 80% of the battle

Been out of circulation for a couple of weeks and didn't know I had a statue. I eagerly went to Bruma and my Paladin is fine armour wise but he's holding a bow rather than a sword. Yup, spoils the effect somewhat as his marksman skill was in the low 30's. My mage character is shown with the correct robes and staff though.
