I say we "deserve" a legion dlc

Post » Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:00 am

You heard me. I mean, saying we deserve one is silly sounding because it's not like we did something to deservr it, but, like I...
Ok never mind. I want to go to Arizona, really big map with lots of legion culture/backstory. Also, one or two legion followers (maybe one could be a slave?)
Because legion got shafted in the vanilla game.

Eh, I'm a NCR really devoted fan (secretly a Enclave worshiper) but the Legion was the [censored] faction in the game. I wouldn't mind the dlc, but then again I wouldn't prefer it and know it won't happen.

Then you don't really like the Enclave do you?

On topic I agree that the Legion were really underused and just given very little in the way on incentives.

I havent did any legion quests myself but I kind of expected New Vegas to have where you could enslave people and make caps off that like you could in Fallout 3. As far as i can tell you cant do this and that in my opinion screwed the Legion over as what could have been a good faction

There hasn't been any other themed DLC's just dead money which had Elijah from B.o.S. But it had nothing to do with them anyways. Why does the Legion deserve one more than anyone else? My vote is for NCR because they're way more interesting anyways.

Legion got shafted, but that can't be made up in a DLC, because 90% of players likely aren't Legion fans for that exact reason; they got shafted. Thus, the DLC likely wouldn't do as well as one friendly to all factions.

I know I wouldn't want to have to work with the Legion in a DLC, because I don't like them; they simply haven't been fleshed out enough in the actual game to deserve a DLC.

svcks, but there you have it.
I do agree that no Legion companion was an absolute travesty, though.

You say we do, okay.

We don't.

If we get one? Sure, i'll appreciate it but we sure as hell don't 'deserve' a Legion DLC.

I'm indifferent about a Legion expansion, unless it's one like Broken Steel where you get to be part of an NCR offensive to rid the west of all Legion presence. That'd be fun. The Legion is full of scumbags and needs to be wiped out... IMO.

we may not deserve a legion dlc, but im sure the legion deserves one, they didn't do a good job of fleshing them out as a faction, and i think they could have been pretty cool

The fact that they aren't fleshed out is exactly why they won't get a DLC, though; they aren't popular enough to warrant one.

Faction-specific DLCs should be avoided in general, IMO.

We don't, but the Legion as a faction sure as hell does as whiteguy1x pointed out.

Because Caesar's Legion got completely shafted in terms of content.

Perhaps not popular enough amongst players but they definitely got the spotlight as villian like the Enclave did in Fallout 3. Actually, even more so because you hear so much about the Legion in your travels even before you meet any members of the faction. Through out the game most gossip is about them by Nevada locals and later on your exploits against them with the NCR.

Unlike Fallout 3, this isn't some black & white thing with the Legion.

Elaborate. If anything, they're more of a villian faction than the Enclave was. The Enclave, although very billigerent, still had the masterplan of reunifying and reforming the US to something more like it's former "glory" except with much more facist edge. The Legion on the other hand wants to brutally conquer everything plain and simple. They have no problem (and in fact promote) r aping, torturing and murdering unarmed civilians as well as many other forms of desecration to those who oppose them. In my books, that's evil.

That doesn't mean the NCR is perfect either. They're more like the nations of old than any other faction, considering the darker side of their motives and affairs, however when it comes to black and white they definitely fall into the lighter grey. Lesser of the two evils. That makes them the good guys.

I can understand your interest in the Legion, though. They are very much like the ancient Roman Legions (of course) and I've always been very fascinated with them. They are without a doubt very cool and I'm not opposing a DLC dedicated to them as the protagonist. I'm just not very in favor of them. I'd rather be fighting them than helping.

Just my 2 caps.

Why does the Legion deserve one more than anyone else?

Because NCR has the major focus during the entire game and has been in a previous game.
House is chained to the ground and can hardly have more to his story outside of Vegas.
Powder Gangers just emerged from NCR ashes, too young for a DLC of their own.
Great Khans are the ones at RRC, no more.
BOS, no.
Boomers, isolationists who bomb everybody that comes in range, they need a DLC for?

None of the others need a DLC, Legion on the other hand does, we know nothing of how an actual Legion town/city is, how the slaves are treated, how the citizens are treated, if it's all work and no play et cetera.

And listen, it's not like you'd have to be forced to help Legion in the DLC.
If you don't like Legion then I'm sure that Obsidian can think up a storyline that allows you to help someone else take Legion down in this city or something like that.

But for us Legion fans it would really help with arguments and lore and might even make NCR, YM and/or House supporters come over to Legion's side.
Legion needs a DLC for the sheer size they're in, the amount of quests, NPC's and dialogue in vanilla was not enough.

What I mean is that this isn't as one sided as Fallout 3 was; where the BoS were a bunch white knight purists and the Enclave were just bunch of baby eaters. No, that is simply not the case of New Vegas.

"They have no problem (and in fact promote) [censored], torturing and murdering unarmed civilians as well as many other forms of desecration to those who oppose them."

R ape? Anything that backs this claim of yours? Torturing? Crucifixion does send out a pretty a strong message, that's for sure. Murdering civilians? Only if you openly oppose or resist the Legion.

Honest Hearts will surely have something to do with the Legion. They may not have a strong presence in it (and you'll almost certainly be against them), but they'll be there at some point.

Just because the people you murder oppose or don't like you doesn't make it okay...:P

At least in my eyes, Legion's pretty clearly the bad guy; 75% of the map area of the game is covered in people saying how much they're afraid of the Legion, the companions love to rag on Legion, and you see evidence of Legion atrocities but never anything good they do. Also, consider the fact that you fight them in 3 out of 4 main quest endings. They're the baddies.

Depending on how you play it with House and Yes Man you might have to fight both NCR and Legion though.
And with NPC dialogue, what do you expect?
The game was designed in favor to NCR territory.
If they had had a map node system then we could easily have had a city from Arizona or some other pro-Legion place and we'd have more to go on.
But due to this [censored] awful crap sandbox map the game had to be sided on one side of the river and NCR's side won due to including House and the actual "Vegas".
So I would rather blame it on that Obsidian had to work with a crappy sandbox map and barely had 2 years to make the game than to say that they were "designed as the baddies."
