Say It Isn't So Veronica

Post » Thu Aug 05, 2010 12:24 pm

I actually managed to complete Veronica's companion quest but after the scene in the shack on stilts (trying not to spoil it for anyone), she stopped following me. So I sent her back to 188 thinking this would unfreeze her, she's there but she still will not follow me. I "rehired" her but she still just stands there. If I tell her to back up, she wanders off a short distance and stops so she's not physically stuck but she won't follow me like she did before I completed the quest. I reloaded an earlier save, went through that final part of the quest again but I got the same result. I even knocked her unconscious in a desperate attempt to get her to follow me but she still just stands there. She will also only equip armor but not any weapons; which is a shame because she had been using the ballistic fist quite well up to this point. Suggestions?

I had this problem also when completing veronicas quest. I assume this is happening after you kill the group of 4 brotherhood paladins. There is a fix to this. You can use the speech option and then this won't happen but this only works if you have a save before the end of the quest and you have 95 speech. Or with veronica hired (she won't be following you due to the glitch) you can head to Gibson Shack (the one from the quest with the terminal in it west of the gibson scrapyard) and use the terminal to download the research notes and veronica will pop up talking about technology. Remember that after she pops up you have to talk to her and after that she will work normally again.

Heading back to the shack did the trick. Thanks a lot.

Totally agree - worst game I've ever played, nothing makes much sense, nothing leads anywhere that makes much of a difference. I am reading this thread because I had an issue with Hidden Valley -(covered in posts here) - BUT, my problem is..... Veronica hasn't instigated any quest with me! Anyone else flying in the dark on this one?
Bethesda..... never farm out a gem like Fo3 again! You ruined it. Or should I say your slack corporate indifference allowed 'the farm' to ruin it. Only reason I am still playing is..... I spent good money!

Just to be complete, I have to comment on the fix mentioned above. When Veronica stops following you, you may sometimes be able to get her to respond again by going to Gibson's shack and using the terminal. Unfortunately for me, that did not work. She followed me there (of course, she does get generated whenever you "fast travel" and whenever you enter a new area) but when I accessed the terminal and then talked to her, I could not terminate the conversation. Nothing allowed me to say "goodbye". I think that it might be because I had already done the Helios quest (and denied the use of the weapon)and so one of the three options was no longer possible for me. In any case, she did all the techno talk, but I could not get her to leave the dialogue screen!!

So, I still have no Veronica. Oh, she will go with me (fast travel), but she will not move once I get there. She will also enter buildings (when it is considered to be a new area), but again, she will not move once I get in the building. With this situation, I can still use her as a mule to carry equipment. I will also get help in a battle when she is close enough to "hear?" So, I will go on ( I am currently at level 26, so I do not want to start over), and I might change companions when I get a chance. However, I sure am looking forward to a fix because I intend to play this game at least six times from beginning to end!

4 playthroughs and I haven't had that issue with veronica (yet), however the last playthrough, E-DE started doing that after completing his quest. he just sits there, If I wait 2 hours, he will magically appear next to me, but then won't move from that spot till I zone or wait again. if he gets attacked, he doesn't defend himself or anything. I would switch to Rex except I can't stand listening to him bark!
