Scabbards?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:30 pm

Hey guys,

So i just woke up and decided, what better way to greet a sunday morning then throw open the skyrim trailer and drool for a bit while staring at my calender in insatiable anticipation, but while watching i saw something of interest. During several shots of the main guy (the Dovahkinn? unsure on the spelling haha), there is a scabbard located on his left hip. I believe i also saw a scabbard on the shot of the man in the robe walking through a small village. However, there are also many shots of characters who do not have scabbards (one that stood out the most to me was the man spinning with 2 weapons, we would have seen one on him for sure). So this raises the question, are scabbards indeed in the game? And if not, does this imply that many of the shots of the primary character are not actually in-game footage, but fabricated for the sake of the trailer.

Nice thought but I think that it will depend on the weapon, like in oblivion some had full scabbard some had what looked like 3 inches of scabbard (daedric longswords) and some had no scabbards.

If the option to wield a 2 handed sword with one hand is there then 2 handed weapons are worn on your back and they may have no scabbard for the back.

I think we will have to wait for some more gameplay videos to make a final decision on this.

It's a piece of leather atached to your belt that you use to put your sword when not equiping it. Right?

can be made out of a lot of things. Most commonly wood wrapped in leather.

I'd enjoy properly designed sheathes/scabbards for my swords, since I'm not fond of having them floating magically at my waist :P

@Doneycow
I'm playing it again at the moment and all my elven, silver and daedric short and long swords have scabbards, and I'm on xbox so no mods for this either.

A scabbard is a bard whose face is covered with scabs.
