Is scaling unimmersive?

I understand why enemy level scaling is used, it gives you a challenge no matter how of a level you get. The downside is that while my level is going up, I don't always feel any stronger. Instead of fighting a bunch of draugrs that I kill quickly with my fireball, now it's a bunch of dragur deathlords. It feels weird noticing how the enemy spawns are different because of my level, but I also can't auto-pilot through dungeons.

I ask this in the mod forum because there a lot of mod choices to affect level scaling or even remove it. What choices do you use? Does enemy scaling hurt immersion or is it necessary?

I know this is not usually accepted but for me the fact that I meet a deathlord instead of a draugr or enemies with better weapons is more then enough for two reasons: you are not the only one evolving/looting, you don't actually go somewhere and see the low levels then go in again and see the upgraded versions (skyrim locks level scaling when you first enter a cell). It would be unimmersive for me to fight the same looking rat or an npc with same equipment with equally difficulty regardless my level. But of course no scaling, properly done for such world space, would be better.

That sayed, I didn't use any scale stopper but one of the mods I'm tracking for my next (second) playtrough is Skyrim Unleashed II to be out of beta.
