- http://mikro.nasjonalmuseet.no/kittelsen/images/big/NG.KH.B.03202.jpg (n?kken) (one of the most fascinating creatures, imo. You should read the lore)

- http://www.alexisanne.com/cocoonballoon/troll_forest_troll.jpg (the picture shows a Jotne-troll - biggest troll, but there are more types of trolls)
- http://www.kittelsen.ru/archive/fossegrimen.jpg (Fossegrimmen is a waterspirit, can be found in waterfalls, look closely at the picture)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Draug.jpg (I think it will be in the game, was featured in Bloodmoon)
- http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kWQ1S6Jf9wc/TRLduXu4hZI/AAAAAAAAAgk/TRiFnxGD_LA/s1600/tomte_93954317.jpg (a little gnome, about 3' tall with pointy red hats)

- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7d/The_giant_with_the_flaming_sword_by_Dollman.jpg (basically a giant, but would be nice to see him as a unique creature)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/AM_738_4to_Ratatoskr.png (a squirrel-like vermine climbing the Tree of Life Yggdrasill)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8e/Odin_and_Fenris.jpg or "Fenrisulven" (a giant and godlike wolf - look up the lore it's fascinating)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e8/The_Ride_of_the_Valkyrs.jpg (female, will decide if you die in battle)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/74/Johann_Heinrich_F%C3%BCssli_011.jpg (the Midgard Serpant, son of Loki - the nordic god of madness, the picture is showing Thor and J?rmungandr)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d3/Nidhogg.png (the dragon crawling underneath the World Tree: Yggdrasill)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/02/Die_Nornen_(1889)_by_Johannes_Gehrts.jpg (three female sisters ruling every man and womans destiny, they are also rooted to germanic lore)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/57/Theodor_Kittelsen_-_Pesta_i_trappen,_1896_(Pesta_on_the_Stairs).jpg or "Svartedauden" (believed to be a cloaked old woman touching her would result in death or svartedauden - svartedauden was an epidemic)
- http://www.hylte.se/eliasfries/gemlankar_5o6/tema/ronja/images/vasen_skogsraet.JPG (is the woodland version of the Huldra, simular to the Spriggan in TES)
- http://www.forn-sed.no/folkesagn/images/havmann.jpg or Sj?svette (a aquantic creature with the torso of a man and legs of a fish, has no arms. They are a sign of bad weather)
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/Odin,_der_G%C3%B6ttervater.jpg (Odins' watchdogs)

That was some of the creatures I found interesting, if you guys want to share your creature of fascination, please do an I'll may edit my post. Before you go, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLEo7H9tqSM or The Troll Hunter, it's basically a movie about Norwegian Trolls and it shows different troll types. Examples: Forrest Troll, Mountain Troll, Jotne-Troll.

Even if we don't see unique critters like Fernir and Garm I imagine there will be a number of creatures that draw from Scandinavian myths.

Scandinavian Folklore is really fascinating. All the different deities, creatures, intrigues etc. A personal favorite (besides Níeh?ggr) are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norns- The three sisters that weaves the threads of fate.

I got one.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/57/Theodor_Kittelsen_-_Pesta_i_trappen%2C_1896_%28Pesta_on_the_Stairs%29.jpg she was the personification of the Black Plague or epidemic diseases in general. Depicted as a hunched old woman dressed in black. Said to have travelled from farmstead to farmstead spreading pestilence whereever she went. She either carried a broom or a rake; if she came with the broom everyone in the household would die, if she came with the rake a few would survive.

I know of that one. In Norwegian it's called "Svartedauen or Pesten" Thanx, I'll post it in a bit, along with some others.

I think we won#t see some of those creatures directly in Skyrim. Maybe the Draugr, since they already appeared in Bloodmoon.

It is more that TES only has some slight relations to any kind of myths, sometime a name only or a hint in a book. Maybe there are creatures similar like the ones you've mentioned but they won't be directly involved.

Interesting list. But maybe not those "unique" mythological creatures like Sleipner, Fenrisulven or Ratatosk. But I've never heard of Huldra or Fossegrimmen, I don't think they're part of the Swedish lore. Oh yeah, and no nissar either, they're just... not a cool part of our lore

The n?cken you're referring to, is that the same as the Swedish one? The Swedish one is a troll playing violin or something beneath bridges. EDIT: NO wait, our N?cken is your Fossegrimmen it seems! :D

I've got one by the way, the Skogsr?: http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skogsr? But they're basically already featured.

Havmenn (ocean-men, male version of mermaids, Norwegian sailors sometimes see them, they warn of coming storms).

Norwegian folklore also includes shapeshifters, both trolls, giants and humans who can shapeshift.
Also, bj?rnemenn(werebears), and of course werewolves. (the most recent story/sighting of a werebear in Norway was just 150years ago)

They're in Norwegian lore. Both waterspirits.

He's actually the child of Loki, not his brother. :vaultboy:

Edit: Removed Fenrir, I didn't see that you already had him listed. :P

The closest we have to the Huldra seems to be Skogsr?et/R?ndan.

I just checked wikipedia and it seems Huldra is present in souterhn Sweden and on Gotland, where they live underground. I think the Huldra could actually be implemented since it has a typical Nordic (TES) name and Beth are free to interpret it as they wish since there aren't many portraits of it.

EDIT: Nissar are awesome!

I know. It's a part of Tamriel. The only reason for this thread is to inspire the BGS personell.

I hope to god that they don't draw heavy inspiration from norse mythology. It was bad enough when I read that their thoughts on the afterlife is pretty much the
same.

Sure it is, it takes place in Oslo 2011. Thieves guild has been changed to Gypsis organized beggar guild. Dark brotherhood is now illegal muslim brotherhood. And there's also a drug-pushing guild with its headquarters outside in open infront of the train station :). Oh, and all ur enemies have weapons, but you are unable to use any.

Quite a coincidence. Ma made a surprise visit today to bring me some home-made bread and chat a little, and we talked about those creepy Swedish folk stories she told me for bedtime.
Anyway, I'd rather have them imitate Scandinavian geometry more than include even more mythological background copies. ^_^

But that island with what is pretty much a gate to hell in a volcano in its centre is kind of a wasteland now, isn't it? ^_^
