SCAR-Spectral Combat Assault & Recon

(OOC: Wow, it flared up decently didn't it? When we're actually inside the facility I'll probably post after everyone's post directed at me... But I won't take it past my first post pretty much; don't worry you'll be able to keep up guys. I don't want this to fall and as such I'll be here as often as I can; if I end up leaving for home early; I'll put someone in charge.)

IC:

Looking up at the man I saw something I had actually been looking for; the ghoul, Ethan. Straight up he seemed to be something most people would be scared of, but to me, he was just another person who was like us. "I'm Ethan." He said in his raspy voice, "It's a pleasure to work with you." I gave a quick smile but let it fade, noticing that his eyes were in fact not there. After a quick frown I saw his eyebrows raise slightly as if asking me a question. I gave a small laugh.

"I apologise, I was just surprised by the fact that your pretty much our eyes in the place where we're going... No pun intended either, I'm Andrew as you already heard, it's a pleasure to meet you Ethan and to work with you. I'm sure with you leading our group we'll be quite safe, especially against things like ghosts..." I trailed off and looked at him carefully, his sockets seemed to be moving around the place, until it looked as though they were fixated at looking on the ground.

Following his eyes I looked down as well, nothing was there, but there must've been something for him... I just laughed, "Obviously if you can make your way to the tent without getting any injury I'm going to trust you. That and the fact I always liked ghouls, I wouldn't even mind being one myself if it wasn't such a bother to have it happen. I think I'd rather avoid too much radiation if I can help it." I chuckled to myself and let out a sigh, I was having a conversation with myself now.

"Well, Ethan, if theirs anything you want to ask go ahead, but if you would so kindly please follow me for a second. I think I'm going to see if everyone actually did start talking to each other," I quickly muttered. Moving forward to the tent flap and opening it, "Ghouls first kind sir," I said in a joking way. Whether he suppressed a cough or a laugh I don't know but he obliged and walked through the tent flap. I followed right after him and leant against the fabric lightly.

"A wonderful day to die as they say, I just wanted to make sure that these people realise that this isn't going to be a cake walk." I said, raising my voice as I went along. I coughed lightly and continued out much louder than normal, "I'm serious guys, now might be your ONLY chance to have a normal conversation again; so don't keep old things buried up in your emotions. You'll be stuck with these people for the forseeable future to my knowledge, so do what you can with it."

I shrugged and looked at Ethan, "Thought I'd just let them know the truth."

Micheal had just arrived, sitting quietly as the others conversed amongst themselves. He thought, "So apparently I'm not the only one with powers, and we're the only ones that can stop this menace. Well, I should at least try to know my teamates like Andrew said." Other than Andrew, Micheal noticed his teamates consisted of two women, three guys, and a Ghoul, who appeared blind. Micheal walked up to the group that was talking and said, "So it appears we're working together." He then turned to the man named Jian and said, "Micheal Gabriel, pleased to meet you.", and then shook his hand.

Ethan listened to every word Andrew had said; thought it was bit of a ramble. He still didn't care, because he instantly knew Andrew would be a friend. There didn't seem to be any sort of negative reaction to the fact he was an eyeless ghoul. Even the comment about the eyes made Ethan laugh a little on the inside.

He followed Andrew outside, where he listened to him give off a speech of sorts - warning the group that it may be their last chance for a normal conversation. Ethan sighed at the thought of never coming back; but he was used to not having normal conversations with people.

Andrew shrugged, "Thought I'd just let them know the truth."

"Why would he shrug?" Ethan thought to himself, letting out a chuckle.

Ethan looked down at the little Molerat, that followed him outside of the tent. It looked up at him, and it's nose twitched. Ethan smiled, maybe now he could have his own pet. At least he wouldn't have to feed it!

Still looking at the animal, he spoke to Andrew; "To be terribly honest, I may be the only one here who will know the whole truth."

Looking at Ethan I saw him staring at the ground, "To be terribly honest, I may be the only one here who will know the whole truth," he said quietly. I sighed lightly and put my hand on his shoulder, "From what I've seen, what I see and what I hear I know that you are probably going to be the most important person here. I've heard things in my head that threaten to kill me as I sleep, things that try to kill me with their words. They haven't won yet, but they may well do that."

Letting my hand drop off his shoulder I laughed a little, "Most people called me crazy but now look where I am! About to lead a bunch of other crazies with powers into a place full of death and ghosts... I believe in ghosts, I don't see them though, but sometimes I see things that are worse than ghosts. Things that try to kill me as I stare at them, they come towards with me claws and..." I trailed off, rubbing my chin and thus my beard. I thought about it all and quickly checked the time on a small clock on my tent.

We had about fifteen minutes left before we were to go in, time was precious yet very long it seemed. Looking at Ethan again I gave a small smile, "The last time I talked to someone who was blind it turned out he was a mugger; he didn't live long after that. Lucky you aren't a mugger hey Ethan? But, you can still see..." I trailed off, when I'd read his profile I hadn't really gotten any clue as to what he could truly do, I knew he could see things other's couldn't... But we all could.

He could probably see more though...

Ethan knelt down, and put his hand through the Molerat's ghost. It flinched back, but came up to Ethan's leg.

"Sorry for that, normally there's no friendly one's around here. I always have to take out my sword around them..." Ethan paused, and looked up to Andrew, feeling like an idiot. "Uh, never mind about that. I talk to myself sometimes, but I don't think I'm the only one here who does that."

"Things worse than ghosts, eh? You may think that; at least until you could see them with your own eyes. To me, seeing what I may one day become is horrible. Perhaps one day I would be forced to roam around these damn fields, doomed to nothingness. I've only met three human ghosts, you know. Each one seemed like a depressed soul, who wanted to finally find peace.

"They always ask me; 'please, use that blade. Take me from my misery.' But I never want to, who knows what would happen to them? Death in the afterlife, it's just a funny thought. I always thought it was stupid myth. Y'know? Killing ghosts with Silver. It's actually the only thing that works, unless you perform some sort of ritual.

"I'm sorry, I kind of rambled there for a moment. Please, tell me more about your experiences?" Ethan finally ended.

"I'm sorry, I kind of rambled there for a moment. Please, tell me more about your experiences?" Ethan finally ended. Shaking my head I looked up to the sky, "My experiences? They involve a lot of lies and deception, as well as a fair amount of death... I don't want to know how many ghosts I left behind, I started out in the Brotherhood you see, but the Elder kicked me out for my views. I joined the Outcasts for a long while, then somehow I fell in with the Enclave."

Shaking my head again I continued, "The thing is, while I was a part of every one of those Factions I killed members of the others, I've killed people I knew as friends... It sickens me to think I did it, but I was foolish then, now I plan on staying alive and keeping you guys alive with me; it's the only thing I can do really. Be careful when you go in there Ethan, who knows what sort of things will try to do stuff to us in there," I shuddered and looked at the cold building.

The stone was mouldy and grimy, with the brickwork falling apart, what we truly wanted was far far down. Going towards the core of the Earth. The buildings infrastructure went down approximately two kilometres, with many winding tunnels and halls that led to dead ends. We needed to get down to the bottom quickly, but from our estimations it would take us at least a week to get down there, unless we hit something that could get us down there quickly.

I sighed and looked at Ethan again, "When ghosts talk to you, do they ever threaten you? I've had visions recently, of something... A figure, a figure that looks just like us, humans, but it speaks to me in such a way that, well, it wants to kill me and all of us with it." I shuddered as I remembered the voice in the tent. I looked back towards the building, "Theirs more in there than we think."

((OOC: Sorry if I mess up somewhere in this. Damn Continuity :P))

IC

Ethan frowned at Andrew's story.

"Life can be extremely unfair, can't it? If there are any Ghostly paranormals down there, in that place, I'll make sure we live through the fight. I've even fashioned a few silver bullets from melted down blades, just in case I can't kill them with my broadsword." Ethan paused, and looked over the group, including Andrew.

"Something that worries me, and has always worried me; what if I can't stop it? If there's anything hostile enough, they can easily take someone down in just seconds. Normally the paranormals don't attack, most of the time they can't. But I've come across a few animals recently, they all tried to fight me and my friends. I don't know how they do it, but it doesn't matter. I've always come out victorious.

"One of those few human ghosts threatened to end my life, yes. There's nothing worse, actually. I just walked away, trying my best to ignore them. But he just haunted me for the following weeks, believe it or not. It's simple for them to mess with your mind, but it's difficult for them to inflict physical damage. I've had dreams, similar to what you've explained. Hell, since the world I've seen if different than yours, I've seen some crazy things caused from that angry ghost.

"The world I see belongs to them, and I'm just a visitor. They can do whatever they want to, and I can only watch. That is; unless they attack me first. It's a confusing world, and I'm sorry if none of this makes sense. It's impossible to explain.

Looking at Ethan again I sighed, things were different among people who understood, "You are right, most ghosts are more in our minds than anything else, but I know that something is different about this place. Even here, can't you feel the power almost coming out of the building? It's almost like a beating in the ground, it's so faint but I can hear it and feel it. It's messing with my head right now, but it's something we'll end up dealing with I think."

Trailing off I looked at Ethan again, I wondered how he could truly see with just his mind. He had a powerful power and he knew how to use it to his advantage, I coughed lightly, "I'm sure you'll be able to stop anything in there Ethan, our lives are going to change, whether for the better or for worse I'm yet to know. Theirs going to be things in there that will help us I'm sure, the former members of SCAR's spirits are still in there; but whether they'll want to help or not..."

Trailing off yet again I looked towards the building, feeling the small vibrations eminate through my body. Things were going to get worse and better at the same time, Oh, but they're going to get much worse before they get better, trust me. Hearing the sounds eminate through my head again I quickly shoved them out, but they came back again. Whispering threats of death and pain upon me and everyone with me, gritting my teeth I took control of my mind again.

Shaking my head I leaned a little more against the tent, "Well, Ethan, I think now's the time to say some last words and get to know someone else a little better, you know enough about me I think. Perhaps I could learn a little more about you? Then I think it's almost time to begin this."

Five men circled Edward, all in gray outfits. Ed was in his SCAR outfit, cracking his knuckles. "Okay, you damn recruits, come get some." He said. One recruit walked slowly up to Ed, threw a weak punch, and was knocked out with one blow by Ed. The rest of the recruits scurried off in a hast, not wanting to get their noses broke. Ed walked off the sparing mat and went over to a tent, and grabbed a beer. "Ah, damn kids got my knuckles bleeding." He said as he took a swig of the drink. He walked over to another tent that had seats up for anyone feeling sick or tired, or just wanted to relax. "Ah, that's a way to take a load off." He said in a smug sense of accomplishment. One small officer came up to him, worried sounding. "Er, Mr. Kovacs, You missed Commander Hannon's Speech" He said in a weak voice.

"Really, I'm devastated. Kid, I've been here probably longer than you, I've head that damn speech three times." Ed said in his deep voice. "So, when he actually adds something important other than 'Shoot things that hurt you' I'll be more interested". The man wandered off after that, probably to sign papers over Ed's 'Pleasantness'. He didn't care, what, they'll fire him? Edward got up from his seat, did some stretching, and went over to the armory. He opened up the door with his ID, walked in and turned on the lights. is foot steps echoed across the concrete floor as he moved across the room. "Damn, I love that smell, gunpowder, metal, gas, they all sooth me" He said to himself.

He glanced over to a certain self, which had a wide array of weapons. It belonged to Edward himself, he had many weapons, but only used one. His Pump-Action Shotgun had caught him in many situations over the years. He was proud of the gun, and had special shells made for it. Tampered Electric charged Buckshot, or TEB for short. Ed took one of the shells, held it to his nose, and took a long inhale. "Man, I can smell the electricity off this thing." He said as he exhaled. He took his Gun and shells and headed out to the grounds, going to practice his weapon. The gun was old, as all weapons were. Many scratches went across the barrel, and the sights were broke. Ed didn't care, sights on a Shotgun were worthless anyways.

((OOC: This is where Remote Viewing comes in!))

IC

Ethan started at the place they were to go to. He didn't stare with his eyes, but with his mind. He focused, trying to look deeper into the facility. He saw the twists and turns of the building, speeding down the hallways and corridors with blinding speed. Deep down, a door opened and a bright light shone through, throwing Ethan off. He snapped out of it, and listened to Andrew.

"There's definitely something dangerous in there. Deep, deep underground. And, hopefully the old members of SCAR will, or can help us. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned over, though. Spending an eternity in a place like that would drive anyone - anything - crazy. If we can stop this, things will get better, and if we can't; I think things will get worse for just us. We'll either find peace and salvation, or be doomed like the other paranormals there. It's hard to say."

Ethan stood completely still, thinking of what was going to happen next.

"Well, Ethan, I think now's the time to say some last words and get to know someone else a little better, you know enough about me I think. Perhaps I could learn a little more about you? Then I think it's almost time to begin this."

"About me? There's not much to know, really. About sixty years ago, my eyes were burned out by bigot townsfolk. A year later, I learned what I could do. Ever since, it's been about finding a place for my family to live. I finally found a safe place, thanks to our employers. And all we have to do is beat this thing, so they can keep their home."

Ann kicked a small rock as she waited for others to file through the tent. It was quite an odd group, with people of all different backgrounds. For all she knew someone might have the same story as she did, but she doubted that. Her family had disowned her. It wasn't something she was particularly bitter about, but it bothered her to small degree. She had lived almost ten years without a family to call her own, but she got by.

The tent flap opened revealing a woman with violet hair, wielding two swords and two pistols. Moments later another man came out, letting off blue streams of smoke randomly. As more people filed through the tent Ann got closer, until a blind ghoul stood outside the tent with Andrew. She waited for the two to finish their conversation before heading towards the tent. She watched the blind ghoul walk effortlessly out of the tent. She thought it was odd that he could get around so well, but considering what others could do it wasn't the weirdest thing she had seen or heard of. Andrew was holding the tent flap open for the next person.

Might as well go, She thought to herself.

Ann entered the tent with Andrew in tow. She shrugged off her Chinese Assault Rifle and her Hunting Rifle before taking a seat near the desk, and began lightly drumming her fingers on the arm rest.

"So what's up?" Ann said nonchalantly.

Nodding to myself I stared off into nothingness, not paying lots of attention until Ethan started talking again. I listened intently to the small amount of words spoken and cached them into my memory; thinking about what to say back. Then I realised, he wouldn't normally take that long to reply would he? Shaking violently I felt a chill rack my limbs, shaking my head it faded away; things weren't normal around here. Looking to the building again I turned to Ethan.

He had just finished talking and I opened my mouth to reply, but I just shut it again, instead thinking. I slid down the canvas of the tent and sat on the ground, staring at the ground for a few moments I spoke again, "Your family will get to keep their home Ethan, we'll all make sure of it, the only problems we're going to face are ones we can all overcome..." I trailed off like I had many times, letting my mind seep into it's thinking state.

Your afraid aren't you? Afraid of what's going to happen if you don't succeed, afraid of what will happen if you can't finish it off. Well, don't worry, you'll be dying before you can even make it halfway to the bottom of it's lair, you'll see me then. I'll be watching you... Andrew. I buried my head into my knees to get the voice out of my head, this wasn't natural. I looked back up at Ethan, "Go, go, talk to someone else while you can, we don't have many minutes left before we enter."

Giving a weak smile I said, "You don't want to die only having spoken to the leader surely?" It was meant in a joking way but how it came out it sounded almost like a truth. I noticed a girl walking towards the tent so I quickly stood up and got ready to talk to another person.

Micheal thought, "Well aren't we a regular odd couple. This looks like something out of some pre-war movie." Micheal was then reminded of the time he went scavving in Brooklyn and found an old movie projector in somewhat working position, and an actual film reel inside an undisturbed movie vault in the remains of Court St. He turned to see the newcomer and said, "Nothing much, and you are?" Micheal noticed that that Andrew had also entered with her. Micheal then asked, trying to make conversation, "So what are your powers?" He then sat down and waited for a response.

The rest of the group had come alive, conversing and explaining their stories. Andrew himself seemed swamped with attention, but everyone would want to talk to their leader. I leaned my back against the wall of the building, waiting for his orders to move in. Hopefully, like last time, it wouldn't take much effort until we got a few floors down. Some of them might get scared from the bumps or minor manipulations, but they should be able to handle it.

Only when they reached the bottom would their mental and physical strength be truly tested.

"You do think I can handle this in the condition I am in now, right? I can't count on you all the time to burst my amplifiers." I eyed a mound of large, concrete rubble sitting on the ground outside of the front door. "Bet I can move that stuff, no problem."

Hah! Good luck with that. You're not in your prime right now, you could barely lift a medium sized piece. Go ahead and try anyways, I could use some entertainment.

My palms began to glow and flare much brighter than they had with my practicing. The spinal amplifiers sent surges from my brain to my wrist amplifiers, allowing fro proper manipulation of my power. The side effect of this was my optic sensory sending small beams of light through my eyes, making them glow and blinding me.

The smoke began to form liquid before dispersing. It reappeared on the concrete blocks, most likely having fallen off of the crumbling foundation. They floated slowly into the air, rising inch and inch above me. The mental strain was coming on, but wouldn't be as bad as using attacks. I slowly moved the blocks around each other, mimicking the rotation of our solar system.

I'll give you another minute until you give out and drop them.

Micheal watched as the telekinetic's hands and eyes glowed as he started lifting rocks with his mind. Micheal thought, "Amazing.", as he watched him mimic the rotation of the solar system. Micheal then said, "All you need now is the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud, and you'll have a rough approximation of the solar system." He then said, "My powers involve the "psych" part of psychic. Basically, I can create illusions to distract people. Problem is it only works on small numbers at a time. Care for a demonstration?" Micheal then used his powers on a random person, making them imagine that they were covered in Radroaches.

As Micheal started to work his magic he thought, "I hope this doesn't backfire, I still haven't fully mastered my abilities. For all I know they could be like this for hours." Luckily he had mastered the ability to make his illusions self-sustaining, as when he started out they only worked for as long as he had perfect focus. However, dispelling them instantly would have to wait.

((OOC: If anyone was wondering, Ethan sees like those from LOTR when they wear the ring. Except it's blue, not red.))

Ethan sat on the ground, with his palms flat against the dirt. He watched as someone picked up a pile of rubble, and mimic the solar system. Quietly, Ethan laughed to himself because of how amazing the deed was.

Another man came up, and showed his powers. Ethan watched with joy, as someone panicked; thinking they were covered in Radroaches. The Molerat that followed Ethan stared at the person freaking out, and cocked it's head to the side. Ethan laughed at the confused animal.

"Just a few minutes before Hell, and it's great." Ethan said to himself.

He let out a sigh, wishing he could do the amazing things his comrades could do. But he shook it off, remembering his own special powers. Ethan got to his feet, and looked around at the mess of people. Each one was different, and showing off their abilities. Ethan couldn't do the same. That is, until some paranormals come their way, and it's Ethan's job to kick of ghostly ass.

Ethan walked over to the men demonstrating what they could do, and said;

"The gifts we were given are really amazing, aren't they? I'm Ethan Blake, I'm the expert on ghosts." Ethan laughed at his own joke.

Darius looked up, "We are all outcasts," Darius said, "In our own minds, or to others, we're different. And we can't hide from that fact."

Claire took a moment to consider the words for a spoken by Darius. It was all true. They were outcasts, but here they were almost like a strange community of people. Her face was still absent of emotion, but the thought of Darius' ability intrigued her. To actually be able to take over the mind of another would be better than her curse. At least it appeared he could control his power. If Claire reached out to feel the emotions of people, she would be overwhelmed. She started to feel a sort of kinship with Darius and new she had to move on before something bad happened.

"Thank you for your time. I look forward to working with you." Claire couldn't help thinking that Darius must think her a little strange. "If you will excuse me, I need to talk to the commander."

Claire turned her back on Darius and started walking towards the tent again. The scene was more lively now than when she had come out of the tent. Bear was using telekinesis to make what looked like a model of the solar system. One of the other people in the area looked frightened and appeared to trying to brush away imaginary bugs. A woman was talking to her brother now. Claire had heard the speech that Andrew gave. She did want to talk to the other people and learn about them. One other man was pacing about. He appeared to be nervous and Claire's first instinct was to help him. But their time was short and she preferred to be with her brother right now.

She approached her brother, looking at him with no sense of emotion.

"I'm ready when you are hermano" Claire found it hard to control herself right now. She had been reunited with her brother and she wanted to feel. Not to mention the worry she had about what lay inside the building. The wall held strong in her mind, but she couldn't be sure for how long.

Nodding at Claire and looking at Ann I quickly decided what I was going to do, moving over to my footlocker I opened it up again. I pulled out my two rifles and strapped them onto my back, then pulled out my pistol, quickly strapping it to my side. I got out as much ammo as I could strap onto the many different places all over the armor and into the many different pouches. With many grumblings I managed to clear out the whole container, shutting it again I threw the key on top of it.

Turning around I grinned at Claire and gave a small smile to Ann, "Well, time to head out I guess isn't it? Heading straight into the maw of our enemy with heads held high... It's like giving a giant a little snack I guess." With a small chuckle I stared walking to the tent flap. Ann quickly left and Claire went to move as well, I quickly spoke, "Don't worry hermanita, we'll make it out of here if it's the last thing; you going to make it out at the least. Whether I do or not, is a good question."

With a quick cough I moved past Claire who was now standing in the one spot, I didn't wait for her though; our time was up. We could only get in at a certain time from what Bear's info had told us, so I guessed we had that once chance or nothing. Taking a quick breath I moved past all the others, "We're moving in now, someone get Edward and tell him we're going in; hurry up." I said, loud enough for them to all hear and some of the other members of the Brotherhood escort.

Moving up to the main door of the short building I took a deep breath and rested my hand on the handle, it felt extremely cold to my touch. The metal almost felt like it was burning me, I turned my head and looked behind me, surprisingly everyone was standing there at the ready. I turned my head back to the door and pushed the handle down, as it reached the bottom I pushed the door inwards and it creaked open slowly but surely. Taking another quick breath I pushed it as far as it could go.

I put my other hand on the other door and opened that one as well, as they both stayed open I moved in, hearing my footsteps clunk across the ground. There were other footsteps behind me as well, hinting to the fact that I was being followed by the others. The place felt dark and almost like a tomb, with a shiver I quickly hit the small torch on my helmet which immediately clicked into life. The light was weak but would last for a very long time, with a short breath I took another step forward.

Thinking of what consequences might be in here had never crossed my mind, as I took that extra step I heard a giant gush of air and I turned as quickly as I could. The others were all turning on their torches and fumbling with their equipment, but behind them the door was moving inwards very quickly; it slammed shut with a bang. Suddenly there were voices all around us:

You have followed the last people to ever come here... I hope you enjoy death, especially when it's slow and painful.

The doors slamming was a jarring experience, but the exact same thing happened during my first visit. As the eerie voice finished speaking, Adam began to form once more, his spiritual activity almost peaking. A chilling feeling ran down my spine, the presence of spirits and Adam himself contributed to this.

Oh yes, I so much enjoyed the slow and painful death you gave me. It was a [censored] party, I wish I could've invited a few more of my friends to join in. Maybe a few of your own. Don't worry, we'll have another chance to introduce ourselves properly.

"Cut it out. We're not here for you, we're here for him. For the wasteland. When I need you, you'll know, but this isn't the time." I said, shaking away the smoky spirit.

A bright purple glow emitted from my palm, lighting the area around me and about half of the room. Memories rushed back into my mind. I remembered first entering this place with the original SCAR, doors slamming and all. I could only hope what happened next would be omitted from our experience. I couldn't absorb so much so quickly, which is exactly how our first mission was botched. With a surge of my hand, a small orb of light began to flutter around the group, lighting a bit around them.

"That orb won't last forever. Ask me if you want another, but don't get too pestering. Trust me, sometimes it isn't a good idea to see everything in here, especially when we get deeper inside. Some things are meant to stay unseen." I said with a sigh.

Dripping water and skittering was heard around them, an ambiance to scare the group. I breathed in slowly, keeping myself calm. It was going to be hard entering this place at first with the horrific experiences, but we would be conditioned as we go. I nodded at Andrew.

"If anyone needs to know anything or has any questions as we go, feel free to ask. Anything concerning the mission is all on Andrew. Keep your eyes peeled, and prepare for the worst. We all have something that makes us unique. My power is at your disposal, and I expect the same from everyone else here."

I stopped myself from going further, not wanting Andrew to feel as if I were trying to lead this expedition.

"Sorry about that, it's all on you now."

Nodding at Bear I looked around the small space, we were at the end of a small hall which was leading into a small room that reeked of death. Not in smell, but just in the presence, I looked at Claire, "Claire, can you feel anything in this room? Memories of death and anguish? I trust Bear's partner but some things may have changed, there was a few men that entered not long ago on their own little quest... I'm quite sure most of them died before they made it any distance."

Trailing off I looked at the small orb of light for a few moments, deciding to keep my flashlight on I stayed where I was. Hearing no other sounds I took a quick breath, "Okay, we have to stay serious now, we're in a lair of a creature that could quite well kill us right now. We have to get moving as soon as possible, but time is something we have to use wisely. With the rations that we've all brought along we can stay down here for maybe a month at most, so we have to keep moving as often as we can."

Turning around I looked upon the room again, there was a light in the center from a hole in the roof, it could be a way out but that wasn't what I was looking for. I was looking for a way DOWN, but there were no doors or anything in the room. Moving forward a couple of steps into the room proper I turned around, "So, where the hell do we go from here?" I said to myself more than the others. Moving forward a few more steps and into the light I narrowed my eyes.

Something felt wrong about this room.

Claire looked at her brother and nodded her head. She waited for everyone to enter the room and then walked over to one of the walls. She didn't mind doing this. It was really the only part of her curse that she could control. In this case, as she would only be sensing echoes, and as such, they would have no adverse effects on her. She removed one of her gloves and placed her hand on the wall and closed her eyes.

She began to feel the emotional echoes in the room and there were many. Her arm began to twitch as the waves started to crash over her. Something bad had happened here. Claire continued to reach out in her mind. She could feel the fear left behind in the room. An intense deep fear that was present all around. She continued to push past the fear and a new feeling emerged, it was a feeling of death. The feeling wasn't confined to just the room because no she could feel everything around her. The entire building emanated with feelings of terror and death.

Her arm began to twitch more violently now. Something was wrong. There was so much pain and suffering here, and it was taking hold of her. The next sensation Claire felt was that of her body being slammed into the wall. She began to convulse violently as the emotions contained in the building raged through her mind and body. Her eyes opened and widened in fear. She opened her mouth to scream but no sound escaped. Claire could feel her eyes blacken as she felt herself begin to die.

Claire's body crumpled to the floor. She had almost lost herself in the feelings and had to fight with all of her strength to stay in control. The feelings of terror were fading now, but she still had the sensations of pain and death flowing through her. Claire stretched herself out on her stomach and used her hands to prop herself up a little. She glared at the others, her eyes were still black and she didn't care enough to try and hide it. She looked about the room finally resting her gaze on Andrew. She winced in pain. It took real effort for her to speak and she felt like she wanted to pass out.

"There is nothing here but pain and death." Her voice was wavering. Claire then turned her attention to Bear. She now had a question for him.

"What do you know about what happened here?" Claire continued to lay on the ground and waited for her strength to return.

I sighed deeply and stretched my arms out to my sides while arching my back, almost like a silent yawn. Claire's display was a weird experience, but I didn't know enough about her to understand what really happened when she unleashed her power.

Pondering the question for a moment, many different memories came back, some were my own, though the worst were Adam's. Too much happened here to really explain it fully. Hopefully a simple answer would suffice.

"So much. I really don't want to talk about it. I'm sure Adam would, but he can only talk to me, in my head. I'm not really talking to myself, I'm talking to him. Maybe you're able to talk to him with that talent of yours? Be warned though, he's a very depressing person. You're not going to enjoy what you see. Plus he's keen on insulting everyone." I smiled a bit at her.

The floating blue orb slowly drifted back towards my palm, disappearing back into the original bright light it had come from. My psychic power was flowing a bit more, as long as the well was flowing I wouldn't get tired as quickly. Adam's reservoir of energy hadn't become my own yet; the one thing that keeps us separate.

"Well... get to it then. Hopefully you down go into convulsions and start attacking me."

Darius stood looking around the room, his fear noticeable. Darius' was muttering under his breath, a pray, it helped keep him calm and gave hope that it would work, even if it's just a fool's hope.

Darius looked at Claire in surprise, amazed, yet sickened by what was happening to her. Darius had never seen anything like that before, he doubted anyone else here had. "Seems we all had a deathwish coming in here," Darius said outloud to no directly, "Is she alright?" Darius asked.

Darius was even more agitated at the current events, Darius tried to settle himself down and listen to the three converse with each other of what to do.

"Well... get to it then. Hopefully you down go into convulsions and start attacking me." Claire was Puzzled by Bear's words. She didn't want to attack him. Besides, unless Adam had feelings of hostility for him, she wouldn't be forced to.

"It doesn't work like that." Claire started to slowly rise to her feet staring at Bear wth eyes as black as night. "I am not telepathic. I am an empath and read emotions instead of thoughts." Claire was on her feet again. She put her hand back into the glove and tried to build the wall before the emotions of her companions came flooding over her. "When I sense the emotions of a person I can become overwhelmed if the feelings are strong enough." Claire reached back and untied her hair letting it fall about her face and shoulders. She knew the others had already seen what happened to her eyes, but it still made her feel better. She ran her fingers through her hair and started to rebuild the wall around her mind.

"If Adam is able to communicate through emotions i will do it." She didn't want to but it was for the good of the group. " Do you think it's possible?' The wall was almost built and she dreaded the idea of having it torn down again. But she was worried about her brother and knew it could be a way to help keep him safe. Claire wasn't going to lose him because of her inaction.

Adam's spirit manifested more around his, his being beginning to mold around my own body. He was more than willing to comply to Claire's request. This would be his first communication with someone other than me for centuries. Most didn't want to talk to a ghost.

"He's fine with it. All he really is is emotion. His spirit live inside of me, and shows up at his own will... I'm sure you understand how that stuff works. I could only figure you sensed emotions by touch, but at least I learned something new. You seem to take emotions worse than any normal person. Be warned, this may scar you."

With that, I stretched an open palm towards Claire, allowing Adam's spirit to partially curl and float around her. If there was any way to communicate, this would be the best way.

"Don't worry, he won't talk to you. Just take in his thoughts. Relax." I said slowly.

You're almost sadistic doing this, you know that?
