Scared to continue playing, should i wait till patch?

Post » Fri Nov 12, 2010 8:03 pm

I got New Vegas upon release date back in October, however (maybe it was fate) i havent had alot of chance to play it, so progression has been slow.

Ive not done many side missions really so my save file isnt too large, nor is my XP level.

Ive got to the point in the story where im doing my second task for The King.

The game hasnt glitched for me yet. Im really enjoying it, but after a bad experience with Fallout 3 Brotherhood of Steel DLC, where basically once installed, the game took 30 minutes to load going through doors, or not at all (so basically, my game experience was over, fast) ive got a pretty good idea of how [censored] can hit the fan in regards to this games glitches.

I came on here to read about the Xbox360 version ( i was thinking about buying it as a present for someone for christmas) however the Xbox version seems like Bug hell, i feel sorry for those guys...but i wont be wasting £40 on a game that wont work for someone.

Anyway. Should i continue playing and hope for the best, or should i wait for this patch which is apparently gonna make everything go away?

Just keep using the wiki to look for save file bugs on quests you start/areas you enter and you'll be fine... I find this ironic given the topic I just made.

P.S. I highly doubt this super patch (which probably should come with an unconditional apology) is going to fix much of anything, so don't hold out hopes for it doing just that.

lol, the patch won't do much. It's gonna make the bugs livable, probably won't stop them though. I replayed Fallout 3 not so long ago and my experience was pretty
much flawless. (also was the first time I played, without the patch) That is until I started playing broken steel. Like you said, [censored] hits the fan. Sadly I went trough the main
quest quite fast, and started to do the side quests in Broken Steel. MISTAKE!!!! I only had 2 crashes before starting the DLC, after I started lagging all the time, loading being 2-3 times
longer and all of the fun bugs. No crashes though.

So, if you didn't get any problems, well good for you, you could continue, or wait. I don't know why some people get problems and others don't. I don't think the patch will do much either way.
Maybe help a bit with stability and scripting issues. Just don't get any DLC (if we ever get some). I found pack playing 3 DLC packs in FO3. DLC packs are juste like virus. It's destroying the game
experience. So you should enjoy your fame while it works. Just don't forget to save like crazy.

Not sure if you can post links or not, just google "fallout wiki" and it'll be the top link. You'll know it's the right site because it looks just like wikipedia only totally dedicated to all fallout games.

What I typically do is, whenever I enter a new area or start a new quest. Put the name of the quest/area into the search, then scroll down to bugs for that particular section, you'll see all known bugs and random errors that might/might not occur.

My advice is to scout around the Wiki and the forums so you can avoid certain quests (Oh, My Papa, Fly Me Away, ect.) until the patch is released and you should be fine.
If you're overly worried about it (which is understandable, I guess) then copy a save over to a jump drive or something so you'll have it ... just in case.

I found it!

Now i just gotta get into the routine of checking on it everytime i start a mission.

Alot of effort to simply play a game lol. These companies really do rip us, they owe me £8 for their game destroying Brotherhood of Steel DLC pack

What happens with those quests?

A couple of Minor bugs i have had but wernt biggies are

Mainly around that Prison camp. Barrels shoot off flying, also Scorpions drop out of the sky then impact the floor as if they were made of rubber.

Only one real irritating glitch. I was at Helios one, and NCR dogs attacked me even though im an ally, so i killed teh dogs. Then the NCR troops started attacking me. WTF?

Theres a few things that can happen. It's best just to read-up on it. But even then it's not 100% guranteed to happen to you, like one warning is not to use/pick up the space suit as it'll cause a save file glitch, but this didn't happen to me when I got it on my first run. However now I always leave it.

The main one I found with Come fly With me that could cause you big problems is when you have to find a guy in a radiation suit, if you're not careful you can actually http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1126547-itemspeople-falling-through-floor/page__p__16539694#entry16539694

How odd that you would mention that!
I was watching my b/f play last night and as he was going up Black Mountain, he came across a Deathclaw basically wiping the floor with the Super Mutants! I thought it was crazy since, in three different play throughs, I have never seen a Deathclaw anywhere close to Black Mountain. Man, how come the weird stuff never happens to me? :P

When i did come fly with me, i picked up a space suit haha, i had to sell it to get something. No error luckily.

Also i went to find that corpse for the isotope or whatever it is he has. He was almsot sunk through the floor, his back was visible so i managed to access him.

As you might have heard (see pinned threads), we've submitted the patch and it should be releases sometime very soon. As soon as the update is released (I don't have an exact ETA), we'll have details ready that cover what it fixes.

When I have more to share, I'll let you guys know.
