Scariest moment or moments in FO3

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:06 pm

The bit that made me jump the most was one random time when I was in a building thinking I was alone when all of a sudden I heard the loud "Aaaahhh hahahaaa!" of a super mutant right behind me.

The first time I had the lights turned down. I heard a baby "wahh" and then BAM!

I'm afraid of heights. The scariest moments ingame has to do with high places. On one of the satelite dishes there's a target dummie with two mini nukes placed on it. Trying to get those nukes without falling off the dish was probably the most uncomfortable moment for me.
Gathering all of the ingots in the Pitt, also not very pleasant for the same reason.

So far being ambushed by six feral ghouls.I was like HOLY S***!

A lot of guys talk about a Yao Gui blind siding them... if you have the sound cranked up a bit those sneak attacks can be heard... a kind of heavy breathing and paw thumps... it is that sound that puckers my... where the shun doesn't shine area... as well as "Shrivels my pod." **

Walking through the wasteland looking out into the distance trying to see Paradise Falls and out of NOWHERE I get zapped by a laser shot. Scared me half to death.

I found Vault 87 pretty damn scary at times... Also there is nothing worse than getting jumped from behind, turning around and seeing a a freaking Deathclaw mauling your face off!

my first time in point lookout... after the big mother punga. just the way that it messes with your head, nice and creepy( in the the dark with no one else in the room). Vault 106 for the same reason... vault 108 messes me up pretty good, I can never get used to being ambushed by roving hoards of Gary.

A stupid robotbrain blew up a car next to me I was standing away from it searching for an enemy suddenly I was knocked over by the explosion, scared me pretty well.
Early in the game is most scary, you have little health, few stimpacks, know the enemy outrange you and you are low on ammo.
Later things are more relaxed and you can afford mistakes, even reavers, yes they can kill you but not instantly and it usualy end up in a slugger fight. Would prefer enemies who did more damage but had less health, have some chance that enemy soldiers was equipped with fatman and raiders become scary.

My first time going through the Germantown Police HQ.

I was looking at the terminal for the information, because I was interested in the 911 calls. I was sneaking, and I walked out from behind the counter, looked towards the door, and I saw half of a super-mutant jump behind the doorway at what seemed like a super-human speed.

It was just a coincidence, but it moved like a hunting predator that's been spotted and was crouching back behind cover.

I freaked and threw a grenade.

Every time I play through Broken Steel, there's always this deathclaw right after that shelter the gouls made, it makes this effing huge roar and every time I hear it I can't help screaming.

I've had some things happen that made me jump. Glad I'm not the only one! The biggest heart pumper I've encountered would be when wondering the countryside, checking out loot near, THE WATER, and turning to find a Mirelurk in my face right after taking a chunk out of my backside!

Pretty much whenever I have to go underground into those subway tunnels. I get freaked out pretty easily, and those horrible feral ghouls... They JUST won't leave me alone! :(

The damn run back through Uptown swarming with Trogs after shutting off the power in The Pitt.

Man, I hated Wernher for that. Even without the other story concerns, I would've sided with Ashur simply because he wasn't asking me to put my life on the line for things he wasn't willing to do himself. That run back was damn well near terrifying, dozens of trogs everywhere with no lights...

This was it for me. Those things will chase you down through the whole area if they can. Turn around and find five of them chasing you.

Same with me. The combination of the darkness, the creepy music the game always plays down there, and the sounds of the ferals snarling always freaks me out.

The only thing that freaks me out especially with Mart's mutant mod is when loading a saved game enemies like albino scorpions, mutant overlords, sometimes behemoths and other hard to kill enemies appear in close proximity. I didn't feel that Vanilla was scary unless something really unexpected happened. Personally I find some other games scarier because once I got familiar with every enemy and knew how they would react, it became more or less a walk in the park. For example: feral ghouls didn't scare me that much because once I entered a metro tunnel and heard them snarling I knew: Oh, these are ferals must not let them too close. I suppose it would be different if I played a bit more hardcoe and entered the deathclaw sanctuary purely as a melee weapons wielding, low armored character.

However there was one character plus the scenery in Vanilla that gave me the creeps and that was that evil little girl in tranquility lane. Reminded me of old horror movies like Poltergeist or Exorcist. This concept was very well done and thought out by bethesda, although here voice gave me more chills then the voice of professor Braun.

Furthermore with the DLC's installed, I wouldn't say scary but nasty enemies are ghoul reavers.
