Whenever I have the sound cranked up and am walking around in the Wasteland and get suddenly jumped on by a Yao Guai from behind. The roar is just so startling that it sends a surge up my spine for a sec that snaps me out of my hypnosis.

My first time venturing into death claw sanctuary. I had never met a death claw and was nervous as all heck. I actually resorted to using god mode lol. After that I now happily charge them with Eugene blazing and mow them down.

The Yao Gui I would say are the worst repeat offenders in scaring me. They just pop up so fast and next thing you know you are being mauled. They aren't that hard to deal with, they just surprise you.

The damn run back through Uptown swarming with Trogs after shutting off the power in The Pitt.

Man, I hated Wernher for that. Even without the other story concerns, I would've sided with Ashur simply because he wasn't asking me to put my life on the line for things he wasn't willing to do himself. That run back was damn well near terrifying, dozens of trogs everywhere with no lights...

As a fairly new player, going into the tunnels under the Springvale school and focusing on shooting 2 ants coming towards me (the whole sound of them walking is unsettling, like nails on a blackboard), then suddenly 3 more were behind me. No idea if they dropped from the ceiling or sneaked up on me. My first encounter with a Giant Radscorpion - something that large coming towards me so fast to kill me.

But mainly it's just the atmosphere of walking through the wasteland, every house a ruin, nothing to see, but expecting to be jumped on and killed at any second. Brilliant.

I was on one of those towers on the north-east part of the map, I went to the top and decided to look down from it. It was the one and only time a game made me feel that feeling from the fear of heights.

The Dunwich building kind of freaked me out. And I found Andale creepy too, even before I knew the truth about it.

I haven't had the game that long so the scariest moment for me was going into vault 106 and having 2 people sneak up on me with knives.

Going to the anchorage memorial, being around level 5, and running from the giant radscorpion for the first time, then jumping off the bridge only to encounter a centaur that was underwater. it's murky down there.....

My first run through Old Olney sewers. those things just kind of "pop" out of the gloom, and suddenly their ripping you a new one. Every time I go through those sewers they still scare the crap out of me.

The damn run back through Uptown swarming with Trogs after shutting off the power in The Pitt.

I'm with you dude, those Trogs are just plain... *shiver*... bleh! I resorted to using a Stealth Boy but even then, having them crawl so near was *shiver* bleh! Reminded me of that movie Descent, only minus all the ridiculous and sublimely stupid girly screams and frightened panting to attract the *shiver* bleh... creepy ass crawly people things.

Dunwich was creepy as hell because the audio logs set it up so well, and the lighting is great. Could make a whole survival horror game out of Dunwich. Slow the PC down, make the only light source the Pip-Boy, change a bit of the character and Ghoul movement, expand on the story, give it a few more layers and levels, more ghostly moments... awesome.

Usually physcially react when a Yao Guai claws me up my ass, or an Albino Scorpion appears from nowhere behind me. Or there was a moment in the levels under Old Olney added by Broken Steel, as you approach an incline you hear a - I'm sure louder than usual - Deathclaw attack dead ahead. That scared the shweet beh-joo-zus outta me. I like jump moments.

i was talking to crazy wolfgang south of evergreen mills, i sold him a teddy i found in a cage (yes i know who it belongs to) along with a few other things next thing i know, a fire hydrant comes out of the sky and pops his head, i then look up to see a behemoth, i actually jumped

from that point on, i never take that teddy unless i am ready, lesson learnt
