Scary Moments

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 12:12 am

I was scared [censored]less in O:A when I first met the spider mines.
I was like "What the hell is that noise?" BOOM! "Holy [censored] what was that!?" BOOM BOOM "AAAAAH!!!".
Other than that I usually got scared [censored]less whenever I saw an Albino, Reaver or Overlord up close.
Like, going along nicely down the road then all of the sudden I get hit from the side, turn and see that monstrosity charging at me.
Never got scared by traps, metro stations or dunwich building though.

Realizing that the baby crying was in fact a bomb.

Is a poxy Mini Nuke really worth it?

I wonder if i'm weird, but the most scary place i found in F3, was actually the Lane of Tranquillity.

That whole "everything's perfect" feel was spooky.

The Dunwich building - allthough horrific in a sense - was more expected really. It had some nice background sounds but it didn't really do it for me.

There have been times where I'm in one of those moments where I've given myself up to the game and I'm very focused...and something jumps out at me, and I almost fall off the sofa and it scares the cat because I jumped...well, you'd die laughing if you saw it.

Rigged baby carriage

The first time when I met this I literally crapped my pants.
Who the heck would realize that crying baby is really pack of explosives!
Kinda creepy, too..

Remember running after a Protectron with a baseball bat to have a Yao Guai leap from out of no where to destroy it and make me sh*t my pants lol?

Lol.... classic buddy!

IMO the consistently most scary place is Point Lookout... don't know how the Beths guys did it but the whole place has an eerie feel to it and that creepy feeling seems to double up when you are wandering around at night.

scaryest part of FO3 for me was climbing up those pipes and towers in The Pitt, and those troggs scuttering along the pipes. You couldn't really escape, vertical drops everywhere. That was spooky.

it looked to me like the trogs had low visibility on the compass radar. Might also be that they was scripted to spawn at some places.
The pit underground was scary because of this, suddenly you could get a pack behind you, typically engaging you then you stopped to fight someone in front of you.

"I'll kill you, me and the worm!"

Me; "Hu?" *continues walking foward*

*Sees my body flying around in the alley*

When something jumps out of nowhere and starts attacking you

Me; "Hey look a room filled with babies, aww why are they crying"
*Dead music plays*

Walking in Springvale Elementary on I think the floor level and hearing that noise! The noise the bugs make when they're walking! I couldn't figure out where it was coming from until i found a door, I opened it and saw a giant ant head and ran out screaming. X( I hate those ants and that dumb noise! Even when it's just a fire, I'm still on high alert.

When I was JUST starting out Springvale Elementary and the Super Duper Mart scared the hell out of me-because of raiders. When I started out it was hard to kill even one, and they were ALWAYS in massive groups, and had a bunch of tormented bodies placed in typically creepy places. It's not even remotely scary now, but when I hadn't expected it and could die so easily, it was.

Also, that one crazy guy who you can never talk in person, on a roof above one of the downtown DC alleys. That guy originally amused me, a lot, with all his threats. Then I tried to go into the alley to find a way up on his roof, because I assumed I could talk to him. And before I even got two steps forward: BOOM!! There were a sh*t load of explosions out of no where; that scared me.
I suppose it was my fault for not taking the threats seriously, though. 8P

The first (and last) time I used a car for cover and it blew up. It caught fire and as I was backing away....BOOOOM. Headphones on and my girlfriend laughed at me because she said I yelled like a little kid.

In addition to the entire Dunwich building :nope: , I had a minor, but VERY creepy experience in FO3 just yesterday.
I had taken out a few super mutants just north of Rivet City (with their tent protected by a couple of old trucks). My character was a tough guy, so he'd shot the trucks to nuke the site ("its the only way to be certain").
Later, I'm walking through a burned out truck and find a chunk of wastelander arm.
Then I see the young woman it belonged to. So of course I mosey over and check her corpse for supplies.
As I'm patting down the body......her lifeless eyes staring up into mine........

............She BLINKS!!! :bolt:
:ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh:

After riding the adrenaline wave, I double check her. Sure enough, every few seconds her lifeless face blinks once or twice.
:o
No movement otherwise. The bloody stump where her arm had been ripped off does not spurt blood. She is dead. *blink* *blink*

Yeah. I took her supplies and left. *blink* But I kept the .44mag ready, and kept her in sight till I was far away. Cold needles all over my back.

When i first started playing the game i was terrified of meeting a feral ghoul and tried to avoid any place that I thought might contain them....and walking at night was creepy because I thought one might jump out behind a abandoned house or something..

Now though when I see a feral im like "Awwww aint they cute? Whose a good mindless irradiated human?" Then I promptly open fire :gun:

The absolute creepiest moment in Fallout 3 ive ever had was going through the Dunwich building at midnight........on Halloween........without having any idea what I was in for......."Hey this looks like a good place to scavange!"..........That has been the only Halloween night that I have been generally freaked out.......

............She BLINKS!!!

It was back when I first started playing, in the first metro you come across in the main quest line. I was searching around some dead wastelander I found and wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings. All of a sudden I heard the pitter-patter of bare feet running towards me, I spun around quickly to find a ghoul leaping at me. Scared the hell out of me and ever since then I watch the compass like a hawk.

this topic is where i am a little bit disappointed in fo3, i don't have any, but i do have good serene scenery area in PL which is what i liked (not scared) the most. When you walk down the road to the mansion with the evil guy (quest for the black book) that's one of the suited area i might fiddle around with.

Or maybe im just like this because i used to play with Alma. :glare:

I started traveling from vault 108 towards the national guard depot and saw a group of mole rats. It thought no biggy and started shooting and out of nowhere a albino radscorpion runs up a starts killing them. After it kills all of the mole rats it turns towards me and a death claw runs up and kills it.

I think I just witnessed the wasteland food chain.

Ended pretty bad for the death claw though, he had to eat me with a broken arm.

I'm prone to getting the crap scared out of me, because I DO slink along through ruins/the Metro/etc., as I do not like to be surprised...but still I will see that red line and think, hmm, must be nearby...swing around the corner and that ugly green mug is suddenly in my face screaming "THERE YOU ARE!!!!"

Gets me every time.

What I find the scariest are places like the Arlington House where things are arranged nicely, but no one is around.
