Scenic Screenshot Thread #4

This is a companion thread for the Pictures of Oblivion Character's, but for landscapes and scenic shots instead. I believe it's worth keeping alive and separate as I for one have no real interest in searching through pages of portraits and action shots for the much rarer scenic shots, and it seems people do have an interest in this style of screenshot.

Tips
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On
If you have any more tips feel free to mention them and I will most likely add them.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1053775-scenic-screenshot-thread-3/.
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=968071.
Thread 1 has been pruned from the boards

I'm taking the liberty of starting the thread myself because I want to persuade people to bundle their screenshots into an archive and send it to me for use in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1095002-relzatmospheric-dark-ui-loading-screens-5/. Please?

The screenshots I post here should give you a little preview of what I'll be sending for ALS when I've compiled a big enough archive. The only difference being I might link a version of a screenshot here that includes NPCs while I've also got a separate NPC-less version. I'm thorough :teehee:

Just in case you missed my question darkstone, I am curious as to what texture replacers do you use and what water mod you use to get the water to look like that?

I use QTP3R as a starting point and then install most of http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=153868 replacers, then finally drop in Ampolx`s V2 textures, thats just my base textures.I use a large amount of replacers and it would take me ages to link them all but that is the starting point.
The water I use is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8011 and its http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17345 version aswell.

Okay thank you. I am quite jealous that there is nothing done to your shots and that they are what you see in-game. Very good job getting it to look like that with a stable FPS.

I'll second the endorsemant for both miknmel1 and AmpolX. I use two miknmel1 city texture makeovers, and am contemplating at least one more. Here's http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn303/Decrepit_Waste/ESIV%20Oblivion/BrumaMorning1.jpg seen last thread, showing Bruma with a combination of miknmel1 city textures and AmpolX ground / cobblestone textures. Visually, this is my favorite city makeover. AmpolX Oblivion Makeover is alas not presently avail so far as I know. It's roads&cobblestones section and Jerall Mtns textures are second to none despite some tiling evident with large patches of rocks-covered ground. The rest ain't bad either. The roads&cobblestones from his earlier ATP2 collect is worth checking out too, if you can find it but not Makeover.

Are the AmpolX textures you used the ones available on PES? I was under the impression those were the extent of what he's made available (before his most recent disappearance), but if there's more out there it'd be nice to be able to catalog all of it.

Also, after mentioning how I was finally finished with the road texture, I hilariously decided the normal map was too extreme and ended up tweaking it even more. What I ended up with was probably the exact same thing as what I started with, but I am forcing myself to not do any more tweaking. Not going to do new example screenshots since it's close enough to those shots I took before. Gaussian blur, selective gaussian blur, unsharp mask all day long over here. http://i51.tinypic.com/2r6zhcg.jpg!

I managed to grab 10 or so of AmpolX`s packs before they disappeared. He did mention once that he would upload them to TESA but as of yet thats not happened. The ones that are still easily found are the 4 at http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=5794

http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/205-atp-gold-coast/ is also available at TESA and his http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34175 at Nexus

Hm. I'm currently using his cave textures and downloaded the four sets from PES for later use. I guess there's not some secret cache of textures out there waiting to be found. Oh AmpolX why did you have to disappear? (and why are your example screenshots color filter'd so I can't tell what the texture might look like in my game?)

Anyway, to celebrate the release of my road texture, I present to you the http://i56.tinypic.com/k9n6e.jpg. That is all.

Fallen City is wonderful. I really like Kvatch Outskirts too, now I'm kind of regretting using SSAO and sacrificing nice-looking fog scenes. Maybe it's possible to make a mod that switches SSAO off during foggy weather. It's probably not too much of a hassle to do it manually for now anyway. I can see removing SSAO being kind of appropriate in foggy weather, though there is a fix coming that addresses the issue.

Thanks. I hear where you're coming from on the SSAO / fog issue. When I'm actually playing vs. wandering around taking screenshots I've got to have the atmosphere and ambiance good fog can provide. Nothing l like popping up from a two-hour dungeon run into a heavy morning mist. I have faith that the OBGE team will iron out the SSAO issues in the near future, but for now I'm content with my setup. Fog + Godrays (fograys?) can provide you with some pretty amazing, ethereal scenes.

I am sure I can use them; most of my shots are with high saturation and contrast, so some more mellow shots won't go amiss at all.

Hmm, I really do need to take more new shots; most of mine pre-date OBGEv2... :shakehead:
