School RP -- "School of Tiber Septim"

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 1:26 pm

Due to a series of fortunate events (ha ha), I have been able to coin up a plot, and further my idea on the school RP. CRITICIZE.

--------------------------
The Fourth Age were hard times for the people of Tamriel. Money is not as abundant as it was, as much of it is being used in restoration projects in Cyrodiil. However, the people are being able to scraqe by, and the land is pretty much content. Throughout the Fourth Age, the Elder Council was looking for a Emporer, but, as they feared, the Septim bloodlines were dry. The heir was truly dead.

Maximus Surrelious, a man of a great noble house, and also a renowned educator, proposed the idea of a College, which he would own and operate, that would be based in High Rock. The Elder Council didn't like the idea at first, but further arguments of higher education and a smarter, stronger generation finally won them over.

Thus, the 'School of Tiber Septim' was founded. It, founded by Maximus, was not run by him, but by one of his good friends, Gilbert Marquardt.

The school was made for the purpose of educating the children as for them to better help the economy and the world when they graduate. The school, about as big as the Arcane University, is high up in the North West area of High Rock. The Empire is encouraging all children (of proper nobility, so they can pay, of course) to attend this school as to better their education.

The school consists of a wide variety of classes, including those in the scientific, magical, and martial arts. This allows for a wide variety of students that can enjoy the school, and that means a bigger variety of people will live in the newer generations of Tamriel.

However, there has been some trouble down at the 'School of Tiber Septim'. Lately, only about half of the graduates have been coming home, and the families of the disappeared have little to say. Students will have to find out what is happening to the kidnapped students before they graduate…and disappear themselves…

It has potential. Perhaps it would be better to put the school somewhere nuetral? I think having it in Morrowind seems a little off. Considering "noble" folk probably wouldn't risk the ash and wilds of Morrowind. What about High Rock or Hammerfell? Somewhere we haven't really explored before.

I suppose a mid-twenties Khajiit would not qualify as a 'child.' Phooey. Well, maybe she could be, say, a stealth arts teacher or something. What do you think someone would have had to do to qualify for a job there?

Well, it looks like we have more teachers applying then actual students. Ah well.

And, yes, Lord Dren, that sounds reasonable. That was one of the things I was actually going to put of for consideration. Going to change it to High Rock.

Yes sir

--------------------------
The Fourth Age were hard times for the people of Tamriel. Poverty and famine swept through the lands, causing havok in each of the provinces. The people were not enjoying the depression they were suffering, and it seemed like it would last forever. The Elder Council was is in despair, trying everything to get their economy back in one piece. After everything failed, it seemed like there was no chance for Tamriel.

First off, there are better ways to explain a general bad vibe. Random sweeps don't really do justice to the subtle nuances of the interaction of geography and science. You could have a natural disaster cripple farmlands and a few cities, maybe flood the Imperial City. Just give a reason, it doesn't really matter too much what.

Maximus Surrelious, a man of a great noble house, came up with a plan to stop the economy. The nation hailed him as a genius, the idea was foolproof. The Elder Council decided to make him Emperor, hoping that his plan could fix the state that they were in.

Why is he stopping the economy? The economy is good, we don't want to stop it :P But again, there is little rationalization for why he was chosen. Why not make him a hidden Septim heir, or a leading Elder Councilman. And you don't have to be Emperor to implement a plan. Why does everyone always try to make a new Emperor anyway, why can't it be the Republic of Cyrodiil?

One of the first things that Maximus did was found the 'The School of Tiber Septim', in honor of Tiber Septim.

Might want to give a rough summary of the plan before this, and then a bit more detail on the school itself. I realize you have it lower down there, but right when you introduce the school is the best place for it. And the Tiber Septim thing is a little redundant, though I can't criticize the name itself.

The school was made for the purpose of educating the children as for them to better help the economy and the world when they graduate. The school, about as big as the Arcane University, is high up in the North West area of Morrowind. The Empire is encouraging all children (of proper nobility, so they can pay, of course) to attend this school as to better their education.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it is in Morrowind. You can't just pick a random place, it needs to have a good reason for being there. I know I sound a little harsh in asking for reasons for everything, but that's what makes a good story. Encouraging? Set up some truancy laws and force nobles to send their kids, dangit :P

The school consists of a wide variety of classes, including: Alchemy, All the Magic Classes, Anatomy, Animal Studies, and Astronomy. However, they also teach useful things such as Sparring, Sea Navigation, Hunting, and Tracking. All seems well in the halls of the 'Tiber', however, a mystery shrouds the school.

You could just say it offers training in the magical, scientific, and militant arts. And once again, there isn't a dark cloud overtop the school, it needs an actual mystery. Have someone turn up dead or something, just don't leave it a bland mystery.

Lately, only about half of the graduates have been coming home, and the families of the disappeared have little to say. Students will have to find out what is happening to the kidnapped students before they graduate?and disappear themselves?

There you go. All I'm saying is that generic mystery statements aren't appealing. Just say people were disappearing in the first place, and no one would get confused. And? Shouldn't it be "or"? If they solve it, then they disappear, that's not very good motivation :P--------------------

All in all a solid, simple idea, you just need to elaborate. Fill in all the "Who, what, when, where, why, and how" and you'll be good. And I would advise you limit it to mainly students, with the most experienced members getting to be teachers. A school is made up of students, not teachers, sorry.

Thanks, it looks good :goodjob:

A Hand-to-hand defense class should be in there as well.

I'll join definitely, but I'll work on my CS later seeing that it is almost 1:00AM here in Michigan :P

Seeing as everyone is choosing to be teachers now, I will retract my dibs as the destruction teacher and now call dibs on the prodigy... the school's bright star. If that is okay with you, EB.

Looks like we have three - possibly four teachers and only two students. Only one-two teachers should be controlled players, and the rest NPC's. As Darkom said, a school full of students not teachers.

What we need is an incredibly hot popular chick dating the captain of some sports team whom is also a jock :P

I would love to be a student. I call dibs on being popular guy/best with a bow, and pretty decent with a blade guy. If you want, I'll message you a character sheet.

Well, as long as the RP moves at a relatively slowish pace, since I have very inconsistent internet access and may be off for a day or two straight sometimes, I could play a teacher and a student. Since everyone seems to want to be popular kids, I'll volunteer for the reclusive, insecure alchemy and enchanting geek.

Hath no fret!

I called dibs on the anti-social outcast, whom would probably be very good in the stealth arts and hand-to-hand defense techniques :P

Well, if the plot is cleaned up, and some of Darkom's tips are taken, I'll definitely join.

Since Destruction teacher is open now, I'll take that. Being a wise, dark, powerful, and sometimes angry old Dunmer just sounds so appealing to me. If not available. Than I'll just be an incredible Battlemage, but still an old Dunmer.

Is there a Battlemage teacher? Teaching students how to incorporate magic into melee fighting and vice versa.

I call dibs on the kid who likes different stuff from everyone else and get bullied. (Tamriel is now going to need toilets) Oh, and tayroc, it will have more layers then that.

:meh: In my experience eighty percent of the kids in a high school can be stereotyped fairly safely. Can I be a skooma addict student :P

It's not really open, it's been closed down as a role... There should be maybe two teachers, and then the host should be principal (of course). Everyone else is a student, so start deciding your stereotype now.

I might do like I do in real life and be the guy that pretends to be a jocky idiot (who tells great jokes), but underneath it be very intellectual. I'll be like a nerd/jock double agent :ninja: Or that skooma addict.

Guess I'll take my old character and reuse the overly nice, gullible, hardworking student, then. Oh, high school RPs are so silly.

Ahh man! I was looking forward to being the mean old teacher who everyone hates at first but at the end of the story basically ends up kicking ass and letting everyone know he's really a sweet guy on the inside. Based on my 7th grade math teacher, coolest teacher I've ever known.

Well in that case... I'll be the bitter shadowy (somewhat nerdy) guy lurking in the background who all the girls are crazy about but nobody really knows who I am, and that's what makes me so dreamy, the mystery... Based on... ME! Kidding of course.

This actually sounds really fun, despite sounding like a very silly idea.
