Play Skyrim when you have free time (not studying or doing homework). If it svcks you in too much, play it only on weekends or something.

Focus on school. Your reward for a good year will be Skyrim,

Anyway, the goodies and most bugs will be fixed way after the release of the game. If you wait, you can an improved version of Skyrim with at least one DLC, a few mods and the latest patch.

Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKxodgpyGec&feature=channel_video_title video. It will help you understand something (I hope). Think of Skyrim as the girl(s).

School really isnt that difficult. Do homework on your way home. Finish it at home if you need then play.

Kids today are lucky. They can just go search on youtube for answers and extra tutoring. I wish I had youtube.

That's what I was thinking.

Priorities, bro! Although if you know your priorities you can figure out where you can afford to slack off. At the end of the day it's still your responsibility to do the right thing for yourself.

I would recommend not buying a game you are not old enough for.

He never said he wasn't in College. And you don't have to be 18 to play an M game. You just have to be ... mature (at least in North America).

You aren't going to be studying 24/7. Why not just play when you're done your homework? See if you can get a study block or spare so that you can get your homework done at school.

Well, I only play on weekend when I have classes... but... if I were you, I wouldn't buy Skyrim just after it's released, I would wait til... Christmas, for example.

Anyway, be responsible, that's the most important things.

If you're in public high school I don't see the difficulty in maintaining any grade over a D-. You should really be looking in the long term and deciding whether Skyrim is worth it over maintaining average plus grades for your college applications. Trust me, I went down that road in Freshmen year of highschool and cleaned my act up since then, currently maintaining a healthy life style of gaming and school/social life.

Looking in the short term, I'm assuming you're on a semester system and first semester ends in mid-late December. I mean, there's a good 3-4 months of school (depending on when you start) until Skyrim, so you should put all your effort into school until Skyrim, then make a decision on whether you're willing to wait until winter break or moderate your play time (work before play, etc). I mean no offense when I say this, but you're approaching this subject as if you're already expecting to fall into the D range BEFORE Skyrim is out, which is a really poor attitude. I might sound like one of your parents running like a broken record, but trust me, i've been down that road before and had my ear chewed out one too many times. Just approach the semester with a positive attitude and weigh out your options, looking in the long run and how this game could impact your future (beyond high school).

Best of luck...

Well, a few years ago I had a similar problem with a different game. I was playing Dungeons and Dragons... every day... for hours. :P Anyways, I was tired and doing terribly in school. I've found that just playing on weekends works out for me.

When I was in high school there was no such thing as game ratings. But yes, I suppose Leisure Suit Larry would have been M-rated. :D

You obviously aren't that mature if it's honestly come down to passing high school or playing a video game

This. If you're like me with video games, the first week or two will be the worst, then you'll be able to play it less. Buy it over Christmas break, then just play it on weekends when school is back in.

Do better.

JK, you just need to pay attention in class and do the busy work despite it seeming horrible. I know plenty of people who would have gotten failing grades in a few classes if I didn't get on to them about just doing the stupid crap the teacher demanded. Of course, helping them in class was really the best method. Find yourself the nicest smart guy (preferably girl, if you're lucky) and have them be your "study buddy" that helps you finish homework and do better papers. Having someone force you to study for tests is a huge grade-saver, too. ;)

I was lucky enough to get Oblivion in the end of my 8th or 9th grade year, so I had all summer to play. But I certainly understand the interference it causes with school. Just take it from me, it will be easier to deal with in HS than what I have to deal with while going to college, working, and having a fiancée when 4 of my favorite games' sequels are coming out this fall.

Forget doing your homework. In the real world you are an F student, but in Skyrim you are Dovahkiin...Dragonborn!

Just kidding, do your damn homework. Play Skyrim afterwards if you have time...or if it's going to big of a distraction sitting on your shelf, then don't buy it. You'll regret not having good grades a couple years from now when your washing dishes for a living, you won't regret not playing a videogame.(skyrim will always be there when the time is right)

A good technique is to do homework as soon as you get it, i.e. get home, eat, proceed immediately to the homework you got that same day, the rest of the evening is yours. Nothing gets in the way of nothing, and the best part is completely free Sundays.
