A scottish spiked targe is generally a 18 inch to 21 inch rounded shield with a foot long iron spike in the middle of it.

What I want to know is do you think this should be included into skyrim?
Would it be overpowered compared to the other shields since we can shield bash now?

Maybe it could be included as a rare weapon obtained from a quest? I for one would like it to be introduced in skyrim.

I would like that or better yet a lantern shield, its the ULTIMATE weapon we do have sheild bashing in this game

Anything vaguely Nordic / Celtic will be in game, no doubt something that looks like this will be in there too.

While I agree that the Targe would make a great addition to the TES armoury, I think that the link to deadliest warrior is offensive as it is a CRAP show with very few redeeming qualities.

That would be seriously overpowered, maybe they can add a staff to it aswell that shoots fireballs lol. :flamethrower:

That's true, there might have been other shields in past games that had such a design as well, I can't quite recall, though, but regardless, since shield bashing wasn't possible, the spike only served as decoration.

But I wouldn't object to seeing a shield like this in Skyrim, as long as it's not actually called "Scottish" in the game, that would be pretty silly in the Elder Scrolls. Call it a Nordic spiked targe or just a spiked targe or something else, as long as it doesn't look out of place in the setting. Though since the subject is brought up, I have to wonder if the kind of shield you use when shield bashing actually has any impact on the effect of the bash or not.

It probally has to do with the type of shield such as daedric shield doing more damage than an iron one or a shield could be enchanted thus dealing fire damge when you bash someone with it.

I watched that show once, and there was an Asian guy who was waaaay too invested in whether the Asian warrior would win the imaginary fight. He sounded like he was about to cry. It was incredibly creepy to see someone get so worked up about how many people the sword could cut - I thought he was planning to go on a killing spree.

Shields with spikes (like that one) should damage enemies when you block.

Well if they dont put them in Skyrim I will make my own and put it in!

... just because it has a spike it doesn't mean it is 'overpowered"..
The spikes on the shield were mostly used to block charges, not to "bash"... Shield bashing is done with the edge of the shield, not the front... you can push with the front, but even if there's a spike, II doubt you'd generate enough force to puncture even leather, let alone iron steel.. you may be able to get the face/throat, but then we are getting into very specific scenarios here.

Simple to mod, though...
