Scrapping stuff from Workbench or Inventory?

Is there a way to scrap the Junk in your Inventory or Workbench Inventory... I haven't noticed an option..

Am I supposed to drop it on the ground and do it that way? Seems tedious...

Just put it in the workbench inventory, when you go to create an item, it will break down whatever items it needs for its raw materials and add the rest of its materials to the workbench inventory.

Junk will get used up when you craft items with the extra going to inventory but dropping on ground and scrapping is the only method I'm aware of if no crafted items are needed. I had to use the same process for leather.

You can create junk table and assign a follower to get raw materials but it does not appear that effects the junk in inventory.

On a related note, I've read that the junk stored in your workshop counts against your build limit. I'm talking about things like breadboxes, busted lamps and other tchotchkes. If anyone here can speak to the veracity of that, please do. Meanwhile, when I load my game up later today I'm going to try breaking that stuff down individually to see if it affects the size graph.

You put your junk into the workshop inventory (accessible from any crafting station by hitting your "transfer" button), and it'll break it down automatically when it's needed, no carry space wasted.

I don't think so. It would make more sense for stored structures and the like to be "taking up space".
