Scratched My Crysis 2 Disc and It's Effecting Gameplay

Hey,

Perhaps somebody can help.

I bought the game at Day 1 and like we've all experienced the multiple issues but since I scratched my disc it's got a lot WORSE. Before you cry "buy a new copy" then please hear me out!

I installed the game from the get go and although the crashing was kinda frequent, say once an hour, this was manageable. My Xbox however chugged on the disc and left a massive scratch about a inch a way from the centre all the way round the disc (where the Xbox scraqed it internally).

Since then I've had this weird graphic glitch (which is completely different from the grain glitch, which I've never had) which coats textures in white with little blue, red and some other colour shapes. It will do this to a texture on my gun or environment for a few seconds and then disappear and then do it to another texture, but not other players.

The mess it looks is not the issue, the issue is that every game this happens and because of it the game freezes after each match just after the score and before you see your match xp and match awards. This means that every game I have to restart my Xbox. EVERY GAME. I even crashed mid-game today :O ... first that's ever happened.

What I think is strange is that I installed this game on my HDD so why is the disc effecting the game it didn't have this issue before? It also effects the SP in which my brother cannot get past a certain point in the game without it freezing and it stutters every few mins. THE SP WAS PERFECT BEFORE, I have nothing bad too say about the SP it's fantastic.

I thought the disc just verified the game and the rest was up to the HDD but I hear the Xbox use the Disc every now and then.

Please note that this issue is not due to my Xbox. It's a year old and I have completed BFBC2, played about 20 hours of MP on it on that game and my brother has completed Tales of Vesperia and I've played it a bit and we haven't received this error once. NOT ONCE. This is strictly a C2 issue. Oh I forgot I've played about 18 hours of Mass Effect 2 as well and nothing as well.

Do you think I should buy a new copy tomorrow and reinstall the game with it?

Thanks in advance.

If the xbox scratched the disc.. something is either inside the xbox and messed the disc up.. or its just is the xbox.. XBOX's aren't very reliable as we all know and just cuz you finished other games and nothing happened, something could have randomly happened to your box more recently which caused this problem.. that definitely doesn't sound like a Crysis issue.

Also just cuz something is installed on the Harddrive doesn't mean anything, it just helps run the disc and makes it easier on the box but your xbox still has to use the disc and read it, and obviously it is reading the scratch.

Thanks for the response.

I think what happened with my Xbox scratching the disc was a one off this happened about 2 months ago and since then I have played all the above listed games and none of them have been scratched since. I may have put the disc in wrong or moved the xbox or something which caused it.

I think you're right above the disc still being used even though the game is installed. If I had a friend in real life that played Crysis 2 then I would borrow his and test the theory out but I don't.

Still not sure whether it is worth buying another disc for especially at full retail price.

Well you prolly should buy a disc then... it is just the disc..

And obviously the disc is used still because if all you had to do was install the game to your harddrive, people would just rent games install them and bring them back for a lot cheaper expense.

I thought that disc was just used to get passed the protection they put on it to stop people from just installing it and that's it but it still may use it for other things besides that, I don't know, which is why I partly wrote this post
