Screen covered by a red shader.

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 4:02 am

At least, that's what I think it is. When I load my game, the screen is completely red (I can still see everything, it's just all red), and all text is surrounded by a block of the same color so you can't read it. Anyone know what's causing it and how to make it stop?

If you need a screen shot, I can get one.

Here's my rig and mod list:

OS: Windows XP 32-bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 (6300 @ 1.86 GHz (2 CPUs))
RAM: About 3 gigs
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE

I think the Vampiric Hunger MGE addon may be the culprit. I have the latest version of MGE.

I am not using any shaders.

Disabling the mod, loading up my save, making a new save, restarting Morrowind, and then loading that new save does not solve the problem.
Disabling the mod and starting a new game does not solve the problem.

And another problem I just remembered is that I have Vality's trees from the Bitter Coast addon (not using it as it makes the VR crypt near seyda neen float above the ground) and the vines hanging down from the trees are just green rectangles (some of the vines anyway; they also appear hanging from the bridge between the Razor Hole and that inn in Balmora). I don't know what's causing this either.

And something completely unrelated: I used to have a scroll replacer mod called The Elder Scrolls. Is that not longer available? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Or maybe I got the name wrong. I remember it being much more appealing than k_scroll_upgrade.

Thank you for your response.

If you are using the MCP, do you have the "transparent clothes in the inventory" option enabled? The FAQ in the MCP Readme mentions:
Q: My screen is tinted red / My mini-map looks strange / Transparent items look odd.
What's going on?
A: Try turning off the "transparent clothes in the inventory" option. That fix does change the rendering methods the engine uses, and rarely causes other graphics issues with certain graphics cards. It's hard to tell what the problem is, these bugs depend a lot on graphics drivers.

If that's not it, if you disable MGE, does it the problem away?

Turning off that option in MCP appears to have fixed the problem. Thank you both for your replies.

And my apologies to the VH MGE addon for ever doubting it.
