Screen too Dark /Solution for DARK gaming Screen

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 2:04 pm

OK, so i set the r_HDRLevel = thingy to 0, and what happens complete darkness!, if you go into NanoVision you get your own thermal image, so you know what this means, it means this is how we up the brightness in the game, tweaking the HDR levels, see this thread linked below, half ways down on the first page Maria goes into the HDR in more detail.
I got in-game brightness at 100% and it's still so dark i can't see the man, when playing i now absolutely need NanoVision to be able to see good(at least cloaked folks).
So i'm gonna tweak this now and that should fix it, i wanna be able to see the man a little like i could using 1.8, i'll post if i get success, here's Maria's thread >>

FIXED :DDD
OK, r_HDRLevel = thingy only works from game.cfg not from the console, r_HDRBrightLevel = doo-da can be tweaked in-game using the console.
So how's it fixed the dark screen?
You need to set r_HDRLevel = 15 in game.cfg then set the file to 'read only', try that, if it's too bright you can scale back, r_HDRLevel = 10 or sumtin', you can take the r_HDRBrightLevel thingy to zero so don't worry about that, so there you go no more dark games, Oh the man still cannot be seen from the options>>brightness but the game's brightness can be doubled using the HDR tweak.
So, thanks to everyone we now have the 'HDR tweak', :P.
at the moment here's my tweak:
r_HDRLevel = 12
r_HDRBrightLevel = 2

The game.cfg is here^^
The r_HDRBrightLevel works in-game from the console and the other one(the most important command that now controls the brightness(r_HDRLevel) has to be set in the game.cfg(i got them both there), maybe it would work in an autoexec, who knows?
i got it at r_HDRLevel = 10

OK folks
1 find the game.cfg it's here >>
C:\Users\YOUR NAME HERE\Saved Games\Crysis2
2 under what already is written there paste this >>
r_HDRLevel = 12
r_HDRBrightLevel = 2
now set file to 'read only',( right click on the game.cfg and select properties)
in game once you're started you should now be brighter if it's too bright / dark change the number from about 6 > 15(it may go higher)
so if 12 is still too dark do this >> r_HDRLevel = 15, if it's too bright do this r_HDRLevel = 10(this is where i got it).

As far as I know, r_HDRBrightLevel only effects lens flares. I always set it to 0.

Try game.cfg, r_HDRLevel = 15 is gonna give you a bright gaming experience, if you can't do it i dunno what to say cause i ain't gonna make a youtube or nothin', hell i probably won't even bother posting comparison shots neither, i'm happy in the knowledge that this is the brightness fix, if you can't work it then that svcks.

r_HDRLevel is the important one, HDRBrightLevel is related.

Here's the update, not too bright not too dark, and without flaring(*Also try the game with post processing zeroed)>>
r_HDRLevel = 10
r_HDRBrightLevel = 0

*
sys_spec_PostProcessing = 0
