I forgot to officially post here and tell you about my mod:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21719

It's totally dependent on SE for the mod to actually work so thank you so much for creating SE and keep up the good work!

Everything seems to work.

I do have question...what does the "highlights" do? I turn it all the way up and then 0.01 (since setting it to 0.00 resets it back to 1.000) and don't notice any difference.

I must say that this mod makes every frame in Oblivion a picture. It's awesome.

I do have a problem, however. Everytime the ScreenEffect shader loads, my screen goes blurry. Not the UI and menus, just screen. Like my char would have demaged sight. I had this problem before, and it vanished after i restarted the game. But now it persists, even if i restart the game, or change settings. Please help.

To throw in my 2 cents on CTDs...

I've recently installed SE (correctly, with latest pluggy and everything) and almost immediately I started getting black screens. Not nVidia black screen where you don't see absolutely nothing, but dark-gray screen with hands and weapon visible from first person perspective. I'm not too certain, but I think it is actually fake first person perspective. I've installed unnecessary violence recently, so I'm pretty much confused about what is going on with my bunch of mods..

Anyway, among tedious CTDs, one error message actually managed to get through. It had to do with xvid(something).dll, so I'm thinking that there is a illusive codec issue. And if it is a codec, then it doesn't necessarily have to mean that it is video-related issue. Actually, in oblivion mid-game, there isn't much need for video decoding... but... audio is being decoded all the time, and I did notice that there are number of different audio formats being used by mods. (no, I'm not talking about wav and mp3.. I'm talking about codecs used to manufacture them)

My point here is to think outside the box. Maybe there is codec issue that nobody is aware of that is causing oblivion-infamous CTDs.

Apparently Screen Effects still depends on a buggy DLL. I really wish this mod would be updated to remove this dependency because I took it out of my load order for stability reasons, and I really missed the Enhanced Seasons component of Enhanced Weather. This mod can do some amazing things for the visual atmosphere.

For your first problem when that happens to me it is usually when i first activate the mod. To fix it i exit, deactivate the mod, go in the game save, exit again and reactivate the mod. Loading the save usually causes no problems for me. Its annoying but once I fix it the first time I get no more problems.

And so far I've had 0 ctds (a few blocked) with SE activated and I've played for around 5 straight hours. I dont know why everyone else has so much trouble but my setup is fine with SE on.

Now I am convinced. This mod has to be back in my load order. However, I think that that issue should still be acknowledged.

That's just you being lucky :)

The OBGE.dll file SE depends on has been confirmed through extensive testing (check old posts) to be unstable. Not everyone is going to be in the clear no matter what gets done to try and dodge around it.

Is there not another DLL that Screen Effects could potentially use?

No, it requires the functions that OBGE provides. It's a catch-22.

Well a fixed version of OBGE.DLL v0.1 does exist. It is sitting on my pc for a few months now. Because I am not the official creator of the original and the debugged OBGE.DLL I am not the person to release it. But because OBGE, OVEP and the debugger of the OBGE.DLL v0.1 do not update there work will I release it to the community until they do.

The fixed version never got properly tested or released, so I can’t say for 100% that it is bug free. The debugged version should eliminate the CTD when entering / exiting interiors.

Would someone mind testing the new OBGE.DLL and confirming that it is bug free?

It has been tested, and it is not "fixed."

guys, i need to know two things:

1. what exactly do You mean by:
Mods that use ScreenEffects:
Enhanced Weather
Weather: All Natural
Ambient Dungeons
Fatigue and Sleeping

Do you mean SE just enhances them, yes?

2. i have strange issue - SE is turning on and off, on and off, random time interval, can anyone help me to find any solution?
I am using All Natural (and nvidia gtx260). i got rid of SEconfigurator and pluggy(because of ctds).

No they are reliant upon screen effects. They need it as a master.

And it is known to be buggy and often cause ctds especially when used in conjunction with Ambient Dungeons.

i have NO ctds, ANY, with that "fixed" dll, whatever it is.
just random on/off problem(with both dlls)..
ctds are mainly related to pluggy and configurator, imo, so i am not using it.

I don't know if qzilla is still around, but I'm posting a note to say that the next versions of Enhanced Weather And All Natural will no longer make any use of ScreenEffects. The Enhanced Seasons optional feature present in both mods is to be split into it's own mod, which will not require ScreenEffects, but shall make use of it if installed.

Did anyone ever make a fix for the buggy DLL in this mod?

I've recently been having crashing problems loading cells and I remembered that ScreenEffects usually crashes on cell transitions...

Hello there,

I just have one question: will there be any updates/new versions? I'd be very happy seeing new effects available... :hehe:

Doubtful, as qzilla has left the scene. You can look into the OGE thread for related shaders.
