Screens of an Orq and a Khajiit

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 8:18 am

For a second I thought that was the Khajit's fur sticking over the links of his armour, but I think he's wearing armour with fur on it...
Still looks great!
Doesn't fit with the nimble assassin/thief race in my mind - he looks more like a crazy warrior, but still looks great!

Wasn't being able to customize your body confirmed? So was apparently less options than Oblivion but the choices there should let you customize well enough

You should have seen the GI cover reveal thread, over 300 were reading.

On the concept art video thread there were at least that many, and we went through each thread in about 20-30 minutes for the first few.

Something weird is going on. I just googled "New Skyrim Screenshots" under latest, and then past 24 hours, and like the top ten results in both instances just turned out to be falsely titled links that took me to some crappy search engine site. Then it wouldn't let me go back to google. I kept on clicking the back button, but all it did was refresh the page! Can anyone explain to me how this is possible?

So the new screenshots include a view of a Khajiit and an Orc? I wonder if Bethesda has been reading the threads about what we'd like to see screenshots of.

Anyway, Iike what I see, the orc looks great, I think I'm willing to say this is the best design for orcs I've seen in the series to date. The Khajiit picture, unfortunately, does not let us see the legs, so I can't tell if Khajiit get proper cat feet now or human feet, but just going by the upper body, I'm pleased, I don't see any claws, but that may just be because the Khajiit is wearing gauntlets, his face on the other hand looks pretty good, and best of all, I see whiskers, that's something previous Khajiit were always lacking.

Aside from that, the other screenshots are also good, and I must note that in that one with the ruined structure, the water looks somewhat better than the other screenshots we've seen so far led me to believe, I still wouldn't say it looks good, but it does look better than I thought it did. If I were to make a criticism that isn't something we've all heard many times before (I.e. nothing to do with water.) my choice would be that the small branches on the fallen tree in the orc screenshot look kind of low resolution, but that's really just nitpicking, as I don't expect the game to make that kind of detail fully realistic and it's probably something that can easily overlooked in gameplay.

You think it's a mix of fur armor and iron/steel armor or the fur from the khajiit showing underneath his armor?

I think it's probably the former, though it would be nice if it was the latter, as it would mean Khajiit will have actual fur rather than just a flat fur texture. Then again, it looks like the Khajiit's armor leaves some skin showing, so I guess that could theoretically mean a few tufts of fur could show through, but I don't expect the game to give us that kind of detail.

Some sites that tend to have something that can harm your computer try to get you to go to it by stopping you from going back. But it's simple to avoid. Most browsers should have a short list of your recent web pages in a popdown next to the back button. Just choose one a few pages back on that.

Really nice. I'm very impressed by the orc especially.

Only bad moment turned out to be a mistake. I thought there was a toy robot on Talos' altar in the Khajiit shot, but it turned out to be a weird overlap of a candlestick and a lamp hook.....

Anyone notice that in the town screen that old lady to the right? Wasn't she in the trailer too in a different town?

In 2006? I think you're asking a lot.

Not really. Have you seen the MGE screenshots for Morrowind? It's amazing what can be done when people with talent put their minds to it. There's even real shadows now for Morrowind.

But would the consoles be able to handle MGE? :P

:P If they can handle Skyrim's visual quality (I'm going by the screenshots), wouldn't they be able to handle MGE's awesomeness?

Nope. It was Riverwood. This screen is from the GI article.

Different spots though. Compare the area in the trailer to that screen. In the trailer you see a waterwheel in that pic you don't.

Now where's my Argonian?

Indeed. That's truly the one I was worried about. Khajiit is great to see just as a template for the art style, but Argonians need to really be eye-popping to be set apart.

It's the same spot. Slightly different angle is all. You can see the same weapon shop on both screenshots:
