Taskbar?

If you mean the ingame HUD, then use the console command "tm".

Thanks guys. The same thing to bring it back?

Also, I'm new with mods, so any pointers about installing OBGE would be greatly appreciated.

Over on the Skyrim forums some folks are recommending http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm. I haven't tried the program yet but it sounds interesting.

I use this, it's great - I use it for overclocking as well.

Is it useful even on an already powerful PC?

No. If you spent a lot of coin on a high end pc and don't already know a lot about overclocking don't do it. You're just gonna wind up burning something out.

I know a bit or two about overclocking but I have a good enough PC so I think I will skip it then. You can′t ask for more than running Oblivion on highest settings seamlessly, right? ;)

Oblivion is a perfect high water mark for any pc!

And if you ever decide to overclock, replace every 60mm fan with a 120mm fan then add 4 more 120mm fans lol

Bah, those fans are for amateurs. Brash and I use box fans. One for each of our computers. Plus, our 30" monitors are like space heaters so we keep a third box fan going in the window, svcking air out of the room. In addition, I keep a table fan on the floor pointed directly at me because the room is still too hot for me even in February and even with the fan in the window.

It is not a quiet room. Brash will say something to me and I'll cup my hand behind my ear and say, "What?" She'll make a gesture telling me she didn't hear what I just said and shout back, "What?" And I'll shout back, "What did you say?" And she'll shout, "What?" At which point Brash's daughters will start banging on the door. "Will you two please shut up? It's three in the morning!"

We tried passing each other notes for awhile but the wind velocity in the room yanks the paper out of our hands before the other one can grab hold of it.

We use real fans at our house, not these dinky little toy fans they put in computer cases.

Tough situation there, Pseron. My comp only uses the built-in ones and they do a good enough work. It′s four big ones and the case is well ventilated, so thankfully I don′t need those giant coolers you use

PC design leaves a lot to be desired. I have two systems in my office on separate desks. The first is a decent home-built PC, in a quality Antec case. The other is a big Mac Pro workstation. Both systems are comparably equipped. The PC sounds like the "jet engine" mentioned above. The fans are quite audible at idle, and get loud (and move a lot of air) when they spin up. The Mac, on the other hand, is nearly silent at idle, and doesn't get much louder than the PC's idle, even when you push it (it moves a noticeable amount of air, though.)

The reason for the difference is that the Mac's case is part of the cooling system. It's a huge chunk of aluminum, so the whole case is acting as a heat sink. And the inside is modular in design, with drives and mainboard modules that slide into place, so that air flow is engineered into the whole layout. Building a computer that way is expensive, so Macs are pricey.

Two comps ago, that was the case for me as well

My current one! Yay! :celebration:

Mine sounds not unlike a jet engine throttled up for take-off, it currently has a total of 7 fans in it...
