Screenshot thread No. 123

Previous thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1078816-screenshot-thread-no-122/

How do I enable and take screenshots of my game? You'll need to edit your Morrowind.ini file (see brief how-to below). But first, back up the file in case you make a mistake, or if you later want to restore it to its original state.(by DragoonWraith)

Enabling Screenshots:Open Morrowind.ini (C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Morrowind.ini in the default Windows installation), and you'll see a lot of code. In the eighth, largest section under [General], there is a line which saysScreen Shot Enable=0Switch that toScreen Shot Enable=1Now, in Morrowind, press the Print Screen button on your keyboard (the button is sometimes hard to find, often you need to use the Shift key). You'll see a message which tells you that the screenshot has been created. It can be found in your main Morrowind folder.(Addendum by ~Ninja Monkey)To extend on the tutorial for taking screenshots above, you should change your pictures from a bitmap image to a jpeg image if you will be hosting your screenshots on the internet. To do this, open them up in Paint or any other photo editing program, go to "Save As..." and save as a jpeg file. Do NOT simply edit the file name from Screenshot#.bmp to Screenshot#.jpg. That only changes the file name, not the file type.

I think this is pertinent screenshot info...
How to enable screenshots with MGE, from the MGE Wiki:

When MGE is active, Morrowind's usual method of taking screenshots becomes unavailable. Fortunately, MGE offers its own screenshot feature. This guide explains how to activate it.1. Open MGEgui.exe2. Click on the Input tab.3. Click on Launch Macro Editor.4. In the Macro Editor, click on the key you want to use. Obviously this should be a key that isn't already used in the game. Also, don't choose the PrintScreen key (doing so will work, but Morrowind will display an irritating error message every time you take a screenshot).5. In the upper left drop-down menu, select "Function".6. In the lower left drop-down menu, select "Take screenshot"7. Click "Save". The key you selected should now be displayed in green.8. Close MGEgui, start Morrowind, and see if the feature works. Sreenshots will be saved with the name "MGE screenshot" (plus a number) in the Morrowind directory.

They where the very first mod I ever created. :cold:

Back when I learned the CS. Never finished or released the mod, lost it to my broken computer :(

Anyways, nothing amazing, just some good ol' memories I found in photobucket ^_^

I can't take much credit for it, it's a pretty simple modification of Knu's SSAO shader, which means it has all the same problems that shader will have too, such as looking rather poorly in an ashstorm.

Knu's shader? How is the performance? And may I ask how you did it. I am so afraid of Knu's shaders. :cryvaultboy:

Those ashstorm problems can be fixed.

You know, I initially had extreme performance issues, but I quickly found this actually had far more to do with the distant terrain texture size. Now I find it has a rather minimal performance impact, even when I tested it out in SM3 at 32 samples (or however many exactly it's set up for). If I were at home I could give you exact tweaks I used (even though they look worse now after too much tinkering), but the basics of it are to greatly reduce the max ray radius (to 1 in my case) and blurring (to 1 or 2 pixels), and to greatly increase the darkening amount (I think it's up to 15 atm). There are two other variables, occlusion and blur falloff I think, that I have not quite nailed down what exactly they do. They certainly do SOMETHING to it, but I just don't know exactly :)

And if anyone has idea about the ashstorms I'd be eager to hear them, because frankly I love the results of this, especially when combined with the Vibrant Textures.

I will try to fix the SSAO-fog problems. If I find a solution I will pass the results. You should try it too, you seem quite comfortable with shaders.

Eh, more that I'm not afraid to break them completely! I don't know the first thing about actually writing them :)

Still toying with this, now using a combination of Knu's SSAO and DOF and Vtastek's Painterly and Basictoon.... yes.

Just got the BB mod that makes the beasts non-beasty, and I was hoping it'd affect the Shadowscales. Alas, they are still wobble-legged. Oh well, they look badass enough that I'll play one anyway.
