Screenshot thread No. 128

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:44 am

Previous thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1162266-screenshot-thread-no-127/

How do I enable and take screenshots of my game? You'll need to edit your Morrowind.ini file (see brief how-to below). But first, back up the file in case you make a mistake, or if you later want to restore it to its original state.(by DragoonWraith)

Enabling Screenshots:Open Morrowind.ini (C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Morrowind.ini in the default Windows installation), and you'll see a lot of code. In the eighth, largest section under [General], there is a line which saysScreen Shot Enable=0Switch that toScreen Shot Enable=1Now, in Morrowind, press the Print Screen button on your keyboard (the button is sometimes hard to find, often you need to use the Shift key). You'll see a message which tells you that the screenshot has been created. It can be found in your main Morrowind folder.(Addendum by ~Ninja Monkey)To extend on the tutorial for taking screenshots above, you should change your pictures from a bitmap image to a jpeg image if you will be hosting your screenshots on the internet. To do this, open them up in Paint or any other photo editing program, go to "Save As..." and save as a jpeg file. Do NOT simply edit the file name from Screenshot#.bmp to Screenshot#.jpg. That only changes the file name, not the file type.

I think this is pertinent screenshot info...
How to enable screenshots with MGE, from the MGE Wiki:

When MGE is active, Morrowind's usual method of taking screenshots becomes unavailable. Fortunately, MGE offers its own screenshot feature. This guide explains how to activate it.1. Open MGEgui.exe2. Click on the Input tab.3. Click on Launch Macro Editor.4. In the Macro Editor, click on the key you want to use. Obviously this should be a key that isn't already used in the game. Also, don't choose the PrintScreen key (doing so will work, but Morrowind will display an irritating error message every time you take a screenshot).5. In the upper left drop-down menu, select "Function".6. In the lower left drop-down menu, select "Take screenshot"7. Click "Save". The key you selected should now be displayed in green.8. Close MGEgui, start Morrowind, and see if the feature works. Sreenshots will be saved with the name "MGE screenshot" (plus a number) in the Morrowind directory.

Caldera. trying out the new improved view distance mod instead of MGEs distant land. Seems to work pretty well.
[img][/img]

Where can I dowload the view distance mod? It sounds great.

According to this thread this mod allows for greater use of your video card, is this true?

This really looks cool. Does anyone know anything more about it?

Mmmm.. the FPS optimizer and the infinite view distance applications seem to be different things. Though the FPS optimizer does allow for greater view distance I don't believe it effects how well morrowind utilizes your video card, or rather that the application uses it almost exclusively. I wonder if it is something dragynlord is working on or has in an early stage. It just seems rather awsome to able to have distant land wthout MGE, and quite possible without having a newer video card.

Just got to the mainland, and boy is it beautiful. I've gone for a more true to original type look, that keeps more with the atmosphere of the game (in other words, my computer can't handle it looking any better  ). The mainland really comes alive with an extended view distance (and vurts pretty trees)

approaching the mainland...

Where is that ground texture from? I don't remember I have that in my game.
Btw, Knots. Thank you for your wonderful guide.

I really love what the TR team did with Telvanni architecture on the mainland:

It's not the FPS optimizer. Here's a link at PES
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9011
MGEs distant land crashes my computer and I haven't had much luck with the Optimizer. This changes the fog values so you can see a little farther and I haven't noticed any performance hit. Best yet I played for 2 1/2 hrs without a crash. :twirl:

Just outside Pelagiad?
I think those are from "Real Wildlife 2b" ( a great mod, btw)
I never figured out if there was a quest involved with them, but don't get involved unless you want to get yourself killed. Those 'Mature West Gash Scrib' mean business!

hi, the texture is tx_wg_cobblestones_01.dds
i tried to install all the landscape textures in knots' guide order, but that particular texture is not the one from the screenshot (could still be my mistake though)

Doesn't matter. I picked up Connary's various landscapes retextures & these look great too.

it does to me :P like you, i saw the texture and thought "nice. why don't i use THAT?"
what connary has to offer isn't that great (only talking about that particular texture, usually it's a major graphics package in my installation)
so, yes, i'm still looking for the texture (found it in the caldera screenshot in knots' great guide)

Yeah I don't use all of his textures, but from his landscapes retex especially bitter coast, west gash & grazeland look really good imo.
