I really like overall texture in game, specially dungeon/tomb walls. Very artistic. Thx for that one Beth. :goodjob:

Those of you on low bandwidth might appreciate some pics from the HD720p videos :)

They should also reveal you some details you can miss while watching the videos, and also some issues like screen tearing, aliasing and texture scaling. These are NOT taken from the official youtube videos, they are taken directly from the highest quality videos available on joystiq.com and gamersyde.com [35Mbps - close to bluray bitrate] and saved as PNG, hence there's very little compression applied.

One of the screens is labeled "heavily tiled terrain". What do you mean?

Nothing more than obvious texture tiling on the near distance terrain.

@Drachentoter: not sure, I didn't see it moving. Anyway, my I suggest you don't quote the entire wall of text? :P

Was that a response to my question? I still don't understand.

It was. I don't understand what you don't understand :P

Texture tiling is pretty obvious in that area, just look at the middle of the screen and you can actually count the repeating textures. Even better, look right below the left side of the axe, you can easily count four tiles in a row.

I THINK he was simpling using the axe as a reference point...

There's some pretty ugly tessellation on those rocks in the part 1 section.

This was just on Xbox, right? Has everything that Bethesda's shown been for Xbox so far?

1. Skyrim doesn't support tessellation.
2. Tessellation isn't the problem. 'Blocky polygons' is the problem. Tessellation is the solution. It procedurally generates a high polygon model from a low polygon model and renders a smooth object. Here's a good example: http://www.guru3d.com/imageview.php?image=10143 and another http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/1508/14lj50y.jpg

I still haven't seen a game that really uses tessellation completely. AVP is the best example I've seen and it's pretty selective of its usage.

Console games aren't made to look good when up close. As you can see when its playing and when you are a little further away the game will look great. I'm sure for the pc version it will look great up close. But besides that i think that they're some minor flaws such as the combat and rain.

Reminds me more of Oblivion's distant land. It's not as bad, but the regular ground far away still looks worse than what you can get in Morrowind with the Morrowind Graphics Extender... Though this will probably run better. :P

Again an issue also present in Oblivion, but not in Morrowind with MGE.

Damn, MGE rocks. :D

Some great screens there OP. Well done indeed, and thankyou. :)
I'm loving the look of some of the armours. Both the dark thief armour and the orc armour look great. We probably only seen about 2% of the armour and ( to me at least ) it already looks better than oblivions armour's. Not having a greaves slot is no problem if it allows more unique armours like them. I never had a problem with one less slot anyway. People who say the lighting etc is crap, need an eye test. Considering how long consoles have been out,i think bethesda has done a great job overall, and that's not even final game footage. I just wish i was playing it right now,the wait is killing me. :)

Again, good job on the screens.

Nice post and some nice things noticed for developers to look at pre release, also like the way you don't just bash all the pic's but appreciate some/most as well.

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7171/vlcsnap2011091222h43m15.png <-- amazing lighting effects on water

I love this pic. The water textures really give off the feeling of a frothing, icy stream in the bowels of the earth, especially with the lighting effects from that spell. I just hope the weird impression of the water seeming to flow uphill is some sort of optical illusion in the video.

And I can't show it on a screenshot, but look at the moment when Dovahkiin finishes the first dragon, and you will see how the physics of the dragon corpse are turned on after the finisher is over. Looks funny.

EDIT: And thank you, you did amazing work
