Screw the movie idea here`s something better!

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:13 pm

Hey guys I'm moving on from my movie thoughts and thought I would bring up the idea of a whole line of 1 hour animated episodes released straight to DVD/blu ray like what anime companies do for such work as cowboy bebop, hellsing, and death note. It will also be much cheaper to produce than anything live action and there's plenty of story arcs, points of view and quests to cover to gather ideas from to make hundreds of episodes and rake in all kinds of cash to invest towards future games

Animation, mebbe. A basic (minimal special effects) live action film can be made in about two weeks. Animation... several months if you have a team of artists. More if you're working by yourself. Certain programs can help speed the process (why do you think so many online animation studios are Flash-based?)

But tough luck getting it to sell in the US. Aside from us American Otaku, Animated series in the US aren't well recieved... shows like the Simpsons or Family Guy do well, but not Hellsing. Furthermore, don't expect brisk sales without some kind of viral ad campaign...

... I hate animations. Really. Screw that idea. Look to SW Clone wars and see how badly Lucas decidede to milk his IP for every single doller it was worth. Look at all of the books that were written about the SW universe that Lucas in his infinte wisdom decided to piss on. The only thing htat is Canon in the SW universe is his movies. And honestly... the three new ones svck. Badly. Maybe in 100 years we will see some nice remake with decent actors and a great story. Right now the SW universe which was so promising ended up being another dime a dozen story.

Animation that's not kid friendly is only good for comedies (Family Guy).

See? That's what I'm talking about.

You want to do a serious Animation release, go Japanese. They love 'em over there... otherwise, expect it to not do as well as you hope.

I think that they did it very well IMO

Just because you dont like it doesnt mean that they are bad

@ Dario: The Clone Wars destroyed anything decent that remained in the SW universe.

Also, Screw the damn animation, If they ever make one I'm going break my TV.

-Taste is subjective.

But I have read fanfic on this site that had better dialogue, better moral / ethical ambiguity, greater character depth and way better continuity than the prequals. What we got was a steriotypical flat good vs evil muppetshow with great special effects. I don't believe in most of the caracters least of all Anakin/vader. The only one that is believeable is palpatine... and thats because of the actor... not his dialogue. Watching palpatine/anakin acting in the same scene is painful and embarrassing. The prequals were made to make money. Not to expand on his legacy. He cashed in a unique universe for money. And that will be his legacy. Instead of being the Tolkien of this age, he ended up being Judas. He sold out for 20 silvers. And that is my subjective opinion.

I wouldn't mind an animated show as long as it isn't toned down.
If some guy gets shot with plasma then he should melt down and scream out in pain while showing it in great graphic detail. (Why yes I do like dark media. :) )

The grimmer [censored] is, the better. ;)

Well, as long as it isn't over the top :P

But a guy gets shot with plasma, melting in a green goo, hearing his agonizing screams as his skin and muscles melt and fall off his bones till there's just a nasty pile on the ground.

Wrong. Ghost In The Shell and Cowboy Beebop are both excellent, and most certainly not kid friendly at times.

I'd like this, it could make for a much better atmosphere than a live-action.

If Fallout turned anime, I'd burn everything I owned that had to do with Fallout.

I am more interested in what kind of setting this show would take place in. would it be a whole new setting, or based on one of the games?
why not CGI style animation?

What do you think about Firefly? Outside of perky dialogue it is pretty much live action Cowboy Beebop.

Nooooooooooooooooooo! :C

Anyways, I love Firefly and I haven't seen that Cowboy Bebop, but a reason why you might not like the latter one could be because it's anime? I don't really like anime, so I know I might have a bit harder time to enjoy it. But Firefly is totally enjoyable, awesome characters and awesome humour.

I hate most anime, I was just saying that I never watched firefly.

To me, anime means something like: *weirdgirlblush* ZAANYA! KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *othergirlblushandgiggle* *twoyearoldhasdumbasslook*

Again, I hate anime.
