Scrolls! A chance to improve them?

I always thought it odd that I could create custom spells but not scrolls. They're fun sometimes because you can use as many as you carry without worrying about magicka, but the scroll system have much depth. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to make our own scrolls with blank parchment and ink? What say you?

What I personally would be delighted to see with scrolls, is a spell that takes half or quarter magica to use, that you have to read each time before using, like the mages in Heroes 5. The scrolls would also be permanent, and you could write your own if you felt like it. The trade off being the extra time to use it.

There you go. My little pipe dream for the day. :D

I am all for being able to write your own by the way.

To be honest I don't really see myself using it unless they were significantly more powerful/ different to spells.

Also, now that i think of it, I have no idea how scrolls will work now that we have spells equipped in a hand rather than in a "bonus slot." Could scrolls be abolished ala throwing weapons in favor of staves? Perhaps they'll be queued up in a spellcasting hand. One of the many thing I'd like to hear everyone' thoughts about.

oh my god i just thought of something!
okay so what if you had to study write scrolls?

you like become a scholar and dedicate your effort into the arcane arts and the in game books. once you are skilled enough, you can write scrolls which will have stronger effects based on whatever class governs it, but you have to be really good to do it in the first place, and you have to dedicate lots of time.
and scrolls should be super powerful but rare to encourage its use, but communicate their lack of abundance.

dang this would be AWESOME.
i could finally play as the old crazy guy in the big unkept house with books and parchments everywhere that spends all his time in his study! then when i did come out i would go into the wilderness and study ancient ruins and their magic power!
sort of like gandalf or Divayth Fyr!!
and maybe an addicting scroll writing mini game that would encourage this in game lifestyle?

sounds far fetched, but wouldn't it be great?? i hope they add something like this.
if people like my idea, i could elaborate a little.
might even post my own thread.

Hmm, after giving it some thought:

Scrolls are basically potions, with the exception that the spell effects aren't limited to yourself only.

So I think it would be logical if you could write (enchant) scrolls with the same rules as making potions, but with different ingredients.
You need at least one arbitrarily rare ingredient and every enchant would also require magica, 2 or 4 times the casting cost of casting the spell normally (penalty reduces as you "enchant" skill improves).
More powerful scrolls require more of the ingredient needed to enchant scrolls.

All this is needed to prevent the skill to be overpowered.

The ink and/or the parchment must be embued with magika.
